A topic that we all really don't want to have is that of loss of our faithful companions & pet's. It is however something that we all know is inevitable at a point in time. Although this certainly doesn't make it any easier.
I have over the years of being a veterinary physio, supported many of my clients through this journey. For some its a prolonged worry about loss with chronic ailments & advancing year's. For some it's a sudden loss & shock that can be traumatic or even less expected. Even rehoming a pet or their disappearance are counted in the experience of loss.
I hope I have been compassionate, supportive & fair in my guiding of all the guardians during these times. It's definitely something that needs to be spoken about.
That is death, loss, dying, passing over & all the variations & situations that could arise. The more we normalise chatting, talking, preparing or even planning, then the understanding & coping of this life to death event is in some way a little less fearful.
It certainly won't take the hurt, pain, grief & loss away. But it may make it a bit easier.
A big area not always discussed is that of pet cremation. It can be easier to allow your veterinary practice to arrange this once the time has come.
A new local business has been established that is dedicated to the compassionate pet cremation services. Cherished Companion Companion is based in Glossop and for those local, can provide assistance in arranging at home euthanasia, or collection from home or the vet.
They have a number of beautiful casks, urns and baskets for your beloved pet's ashes to return home as well as special keepsakes.
