Yesterday was World Physiotherapy Day, and the focus for this year was on Low Back Pain (LBP). LBP is the leading cause of disability worldwide, affecting over 619 million people globally (WHO, 2020).

We’re committed to understanding and supporting those affected by LBP, using the latest evidence-based approaches.

While traditional treatments focus on exercises, modern physiotherapy takes a broader, more person-centred approach, considering psychological and social factors.

Key Points to Remember:

- MRI and x-rays are not always recommended for LBP assessment.
- Understanding the patient's story is key to creating an effective, person-centred treatment plan.
- A multi-plan approach, including education, psychological support, and tailored care, is proving most effective for managing LBP.

As physios, we're here to guide you through every step of your recovery journey, improving your quality of life and empowering you to take control of your health.

See below for a video from Colette showing some great exercises for LBP.

πŸ† Are the Euros inspiring you to dig out your football boots? ⚽️

While it's great to be back on the pitch, it's essential to be mindful of injuries. One of the more common football injuries, which is also common in sports requiring a change of running speed, can be due to the glutes not being strong enough.

Ensure your pre-season training includes specific workouts to strengthen your glutes to keep you in top shape and injury-free. Stay strong, stay safe, and enjoy the game!
