When someone you care about starts showing signs of memory loss, confusion, or changes in behaviour, it can feel worrying and overwhelming. But one of the most powerful things family and friends can do is gently encourage them to get tested.

🧠 Early testing can:
✔️ Provide answers and peace of mind
✔️ Open the door to treatments and support
✔️ Help families plan together for the future

How to get diagnosed:
1️⃣ Start with the GP (family doctor): They’ll ask about symptoms, medical history, and may do memory or thinking tests.
2️⃣ Blood tests & physical exam: To rule out other causes like vitamin deficiencies or thyroid problems.
3️⃣ Specialist referral: The GP may refer to a memory clinic, neurologist, or psychiatrist for further assessments.
4️⃣ Brain scans (if needed): These can help rule out other conditions and support a diagnosis.

If you notice changes in a loved one, approach with kindness. Try saying things like:
👉 “I’ve noticed you’ve been forgetting things more often—maybe we could check in with a doctor together?”
👉 “It would give me peace of mind if we got this looked at.”
👉 “You’re not alone—I’ll be with you every step of the way.”

Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed—it touches everyone around them. By encouraging testing and helping them take those first steps, you’re showing love, care, and the hope of giving them the best possible quality of life.

💜 Recognizing the Early Signs of Alzheimer’s 💜

September is Alzheimer’s Awareness month to spread the word we’ve put together a few early sings to look out for.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t happen all at once. It often begins with small changes that can be easy to overlook. Spotting the signs early can make a big difference in getting support and care. 💜

Here are some early symptoms to watch for:
🧠 Memory loss that disrupts daily life (forgetting recent events or asking the same questions repeatedly)
🧠 Difficulty planning or solving problems (struggling to follow a recipe, manage bills, or keep track of numbers)
🧠 Trouble completing familiar tasks (like getting lost on a routine route or forgetting how to use common tools)
🧠 Confusion with time or place (losing track of dates, seasons, or where they are)
🧠 Problems with speaking or writing (finding it hard to join conversations or repeating themselves)
🧠 Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps
🧠 Decreased judgment (poor decision-making or neglecting self-care)
🧠 Withdrawal from work, hobbies, or social activities
🧠 Changes in mood or personality (becoming confused, suspicious, depressed, or anxious)

💡 If you notice these signs in yourself or someone you love, it’s important to reach out to a doctor. Early support and understanding can truly help.
Let’s spread awareness and compassion. 💜

💜 Let’s Take Action Against Alzheimer’s 💜

Nearly 1 million people in the UK are living with dementia today—and that number is only growing. But together, we can make a difference.

👉 Here’s how you can help:
✨ Raise Awareness – Share posts, start conversations, and help break the stigma around dementia.

✨ Fundraise – Take part in charity walks, runs, bake sales, or community events. Every little bit counts.

✨ Donate – Support organisations like the Alzheimer’s Society or Alzheimer’s Research UK, who are working tirelessly towards better care, support, and a cure.
✨ Volunteer – Give your time to support people living with dementia and their families.

No action is too small. Whether you donate, fundraise, or simply share this message—you’re helping to build a future where no one has to face dementia alone. 💜

Together, we can spread awareness, support families, and fuel vital research.

👉 Donate, volunteer, or spread the word today. Every action brings us closer to a world without dementia.

Your donation ensures that Alzheimer’s Society can be there for every person affected by dementia. Your gift helps us to challenge perceptions, fund research and improve care and support.

💜 Alzheimer’s & Dementia Awareness 💜

Right now, nearly 1 million people in the UK are living with dementia. By 2030, that number is expected to rise above 1 million, and by 2040 it could reach 1.4 million.
This isn’t just a statistic—it’s parents, grandparents, friends, and even younger people. In fact, over 70,000 people in the UK are under 65 and living with young-onset dementia.

Dementia doesn’t just affect memory—it impacts families, relationships, and entire communities. That’s why raising awareness, supporting research, and showing compassion for those affected is so important. 💜

Let’s stand together for a future with better support, better understanding, and more hope.

💜 Alzheimer’s Awareness 💜

Did you know that over 55 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia? Every year, nearly 10 million new cases are diagnosed.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect memory—it impacts families, friendships, and communities. Behind every statistic is a loved one: a parent, grandparent, sibling, or friend.

Raising awareness is the first step toward support, early diagnosis, and hope for better treatments. Let’s stand together, share knowledge, and show compassion for those living with Alzheimer’s and the caregivers who walk this journey alongside them. 💜

💜September is World Alzheimer’s Month 💜

But what exactly is Alzheimer’s? 🤔
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia. It slowly affects the brain, leading to memory loss, confusion, and changes in thinking, behaviour, and even personality.

It’s important to remember:
✔ Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of aging.
✔ Early signs can be subtle — forgetting names, repeating questions, or struggling with everyday tasks.
✔ Over time, it can impact independence and relationships.
✔ While there’s no cure yet, support, care, and awareness make a real difference.

This month is about shining a light on Alzheimer’s — to raise understanding, reduce stigma, and stand beside the millions of families worldwide who are affected.

01/09/2025

💜 September is World Alzheimer’s Month – a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and support those living with dementia and their loved ones.

Alzheimer’s affects millions of families worldwide, but together, we can make a difference through compassion, understanding, and action.

👉 Let’s use this month to:
✔ Learn more about dementia and its impact.
✔ Show patience and kindness to those affected.
✔ Support caregivers who give so much every day.
✔ Spread awareness so no one feels alone on this journey.

Every small act of understanding can create a world that’s more supportive and inclusive. 💜✨
