We wanted to share these snapshots from a very special one-to-one wellbeing session with one of our residents, who usually prefers the quiet and calm of his own bedroom. Knowing how wonderfully organised he is, and how much he enjoys making lists and checking things off, we thought he might enjoy taking on a very important role: auditing Bramhall Household!

Armed with his pen and a checklist, he teamed up with Rachel and set off to make sure everything was just as it should be. From room to room, pen in hand, he carefully inspected the environment, and we’re happy to report that everything passed with flying colours, according to our expert auditor!

One truly magical moment came when he paused by the window, looked out at the garden, and said with a smile, “Wow, those flowers do look beautiful, don’t they? They’re growing really well.”

Later that afternoon, he was seen sitting peacefully in the garden, soaking up the sunshine and admiring those very flowers, smiling from ear to ear.

For someone who usually finds comfort in the quiet of his own room, this was such a heartwarming and meaningful moment. It’s a beautiful reminder of the positive impact personalised activities can have, and how small moments can spark joy and connection in the most unexpected ways. 💚

We kicked off this morning with a bang!

The lovely and talented Elizabeth Grace returned to our home for a wonderful morning performance filled with American classics, and what a treat it was! Her music had toes tapping, voices singing, and even a few residents up and dancing for the whole hour!

Music truly is therapy and this morning was a lovely reminder of that. One particularly special moment came from a resident who absolutely loves to dance, but often feels like she has too much on her mind or too much to do. Today, she gave herself permission to simply enjoy. For the full hour, she was up, moving, smiling, and dancing the morning away!

What a meaningful way to start the day! 💃🕺❤️

What a fantastic afternoon of movement and motivation here at Cherry Tree House! Sean, our brilliant sports therapist, dropped by and had our residents stretching, moving, and smiling from ear to ear.

The room was full of energy, and we were especially thrilled to see one of our residents, who usually prefers the comfort of his room, join in on the fun. With a big grin, he said, “Well, better move it or lose it!” and had everyone giggling.

Moments like these truly warm our hearts. Thank you, Sean, for bringing your energy and encouragement to our home!

Another Monday, another burst of creative mojo during Art Therapy!

Today’s session turned out to be especially meaningful. One of our residents, a former pilot, spent time painting jet planes. As he painted, he shared fascinating stories about the types of aircraft he flew and his experiences flying for private clients, what a journey!

Meanwhile, another resident was absolutely glowing with creative energy, painting joyfully and breaking into song. Before long, we were all singing along to "Climb Every Mountain" and "You Are My Sunshine."

It was also heartwarming to see a resident who, just a few months ago, needed a lot of encouragement to try art therapy. Now, they paint freely, exploring new ideas and creating beautiful, expressive works. It's truly inspiring to witness these growing passions and confidence.

Moments like these remind us just how powerful creativity and connection can be. 💛🖌️🎶

As many of you know, our HCA Sophie and Nurse Emmie are climbing Mount Snowdon next week to raise money for Dementia UK. Our residents from Bramhall and Bredbury households have been right behind them from the start!

Today, as part of a unit-led activity, Sophie invited residents to guess how far she and Emmie might make it up the mountain, by placing their initials on a map of the route. It sparked a lot of laughs and great conversations. Some residents weren’t so sure they’d make it to the top, while others had total confidence in them!

We were delighted to learn that three residents across the D+ households have climbed Snowdon themselves. One gentleman, who had done it before, advised Sophie to make sure she wears shoes with good grip. Another shared that he had climbed it several times, and told her she'd be fine if she took one of the easier routes.

One lady encouraged Sophie with the sweetest words: “You’ll make it to the top because you are a very strong woman.” That one had us all melting. ❤️

And in a lovely moment, one resident who usually prefers to stay in his room was so interested in the Snowdon map and the conversation that he joined Sophie and the wellbeing team to chat about climbing for over 30 minutes, a really special and uplifting moment for everyone involved!

To mark the anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, our residents gathered with their healthcare teams to watch the original Apollo 11 broadcast and reflect on this historic moment.

We asked our residents what they remembered about the landing and how they felt about space travel. Some said they wouldn't want to go to the moon because of the long time spent in a rocket, while others said they’d jump at the chance to see outer space from another planet. One resident even shared that he dreamed of becoming an astronaut when he was younger.

It was a great way to spark memories, share stories, and connect over a moment that inspired the world.

What an amazing summer disco we had this afternoon! A huge thank you to the incredible Rebecca Done for bringing the energy, the vocals, and the sparkle!

Rebecca truly lit up the room with her upbeat classics, always a big hit with our residents (and our team too!). Today's event was one for the memory books: full of laughter, dancing, and some impressive beach ball catching!

It was so heartwarming to see so many happy faces singing along and having a blast. These are the moments that make our home feel so special!

A huge thank you to Mia from Home Safari for yet another amazing animal therapy session! Animals truly are therapy, it was so lovely to see so many happy, smiley faces and gentle hands across our D+ households this afternoon.

Mia is always so caring and patient, which really puts our residents at ease. One gentleman from our Bredbury household wasn’t interested in any of the fluffy animals at first, but as soon as the bearded dragon came out, his curiosity sparked! He asked if he could hold it, and even requested a photo. What really surprised us was when the chinchilla came out and he asked, “Can it lose its tail?” To our amazement - he was absolutely right! They can lose their tails!

Some residents preferred to stay in their rooms this afternoon, but that didn’t mean they missed out. Mia and Kirsty made their way around to visit those who prefer some quiet time. Every one of them welcomed Mia and the animals with open arms.

One lady had quite the surprise when Freckle the cockatiel flew around her room and landed right on top of her head! She giggled and said, “He can stay there, it’s okay.”

We’re always so excited to welcome back Home Safari, and we can’t wait for the next visit!

This morning, we had a truly special one-to-one session with our Wellbeing Lead, Kirsty, and one of our residents on the Bredbury household. The resident, an avid walker and passionate mountaineer, shared some wonderful memories and expert advice with the team.

This month, our very own Nurse Emmie and Healthcare Assistant Sophie will be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise money for Dementia UK. In preparation for their adventure, Kirsty thought it would be meaningful to involve our resident and tap into his wealth of experience. He was absolutely beaming as he shared his tips and stories!

He talked about climbing all of the major mountains in England and Scotland, with Ben Lomond standing out as his favourite. He fondly recalled how this mountain blooms with different flowers depending on the year, making it a particularly special climb he enjoyed with his "lady friend" at the time.

Kirsty brought along a route map of Snowdon and a picture book of trails, which they looked through together. Their conversation was filled with thoughtful questions, laughter, and reflection. The resident generously offered advice for the climb:

1. Pack a tent – he often found it safer to camp overnight if it became too dark to descend.

2. Wear proper walking boots – he warned against trainers, especially on Snowdon, where snow might be present at the summit.

3. Bring a walking stick – it was his secret to reaching the top of some mountains in just one hour (though he admits others took all day!).

It was a heartwarming exchange that reminded us how meaningful connections and shared passions can bridge generations. We are incredibly proud of Emmie and Sophie for taking on this challenge for such a worthy cause, and grateful to our resident for inspiring and supporting them along the way.

This afternoon, we were visited by our sports therapist, Sean from Rise Sports!

He led another great armchair exercise session, making workouts fun, light, and engaging. These regular armchair exercises aren’t just enjoyable, they’re also great for boosting self-esteem and helping everyone stay active and moving. Thank you, Sean, for another fantastic session!

We’d like to say a sincere thank you to St. Chads Church in Romiley and their wonderful volunteers for leading our monthly church service today. Your time, care, and spiritual support mean so much to the residents who attend.

Today’s service was especially meaningful for one of our residents on the General Nursing household, who sadly lost her dad last week. As someone with a strong faith and a deep connection to her local church, she found great comfort in being part of the service.

Our Wellbeing Lead, Kirsty, gently asked if she’d like a prayer included for her dad-and she did. After the service, she told us, “I needed that.”

We couldn’t agree more. Today’s service brought a lot of comfort, just when it was needed most. Thank you again, St Chads, for the kindness you continue to share with our home.
