I have been a primary school teacher for 19 years, working for 4 years at St Richards Primary School in Longsight and then 8 years at Alderley Edge School for Girls. When my boys were young I left full time teaching trained as a yoga teacher-for children aged 5 plus and Teenagers. I then started Greenshoots Yoga and in the past 7 years I have taught after school clubs, yoga in schools, as well as
staff training in chair yoga and mindfulness. Currently I work as part of a pastoral team at a primary school in Trafford. I have recently completed an online Trauma sensitive course and continue to develop my training in this area. I am affiliated with Independent Yoga Network, in teaching children yoga and mindfulness. Yoga has been a fundamental part of my life for over 19 years now. In a society where expectations are high, from a young age, the yoga mat provides children with a place where they can have fun, express themselves creatively and develop their self-confidence. My aim is to give children the tools of yoga and mindfulness to draw on throughout their lives. For example; in times of emotional stress or academic pressure. Yoga and mindfulness help promote mental and physical resilience, which can be applied to everyday life. Mindfulness is also done throughout the lesson, via breathing exercises, reflection and reciting positive affirmations. Greenshoots yoga offers fun and accessible yoga and mindfulness classes to children aged 5-18. For more details of classes and Family Yoga or Yoga in schools please contact me:
