Christmas is over, New Year is here and whether these times are enjoyable or not, they can be quite stressful, anxious times or even lonely times.
So here at Get Onside weโ€™re hoping youโ€™ll come and join us for an hours no pressure, non judgemental, supportive game of football.
Through exercise, football, fresh air and social inclusion we will beat those January blues.
Sessions are free to attend to all adults 16+, abilities and genders, whether youโ€™ve kicked a ball before or not.

Just last month Manchester lost one of its most famous sportsmen, Ricky Hatton was a boxing world champion across two weights. Despite being a dedicated boxer, Ricky was also a human being and family man.

Ricky was very open about his mental health and the struggles he had battled throughout his life and career.

Learning from the inquest today that he may have lost his battle with his struggles is a painful reminder that things for everyone can get too much.

At Get Onside we want to help people with their mental health through exercise as Ricky was a big believer that exercise can help.

We also know many are facing a battle with mental health every day and we want to make sure we can also assist people in the best way to get help and professional support.

England overcoming adversity from losing the first match and having to make every match count after.
Not ones to do it the easy way all 3 knockout matches went to extra time (in effect playing an extra match) and 2 penalty shootouts to retain the trophy.
Such tension, drama and scenes.

Raising funds for Get Onside Mental Wellbeing Football to keep our sessions running and free for all to attend. The biggest obstacle for a group like ours is the running costs. As volunteers we work hard to fundraise and ensure our sessions continue to do what we & others love and enjoy,
and to see what everyone gets out of the group is priceless.

On Sunday 24th August our organiser Michael will be riding the Cheshire Loop canal towpath. This is estimated at 96 miles and with the ride from home to canal and back this should be in excess of 100 miles.

We are a non for profit organisation who run weekly football sessions to help people with their mental health.

We run weekly football sessions aimed at getting people active.

It's a scientific fact that regular physical activity and exercise can make us healthier and happier.

When we're active, the body releases feel-good hormones that can improve our mood and boost our energy.

Other benefits of exercise for mental health include:

boosting our self-esteem and confidence
increasing motivation and focus

reducing tension, anxiety, stress and mental fatigue

helping to calm the mind, especially when dealing with difficult emotions like anger, frustration and sadness

reducing loneliness by offering new ways to get together with family and friends and meet new people
