PACTStockport Stockport's Offical Parent Carer Forum - Working in partnership to shape better services for children and young people disabilities & additional needs 0-25yrs

A strong voice of parents and carers is at the Heart of Stockport's delivery of services for children, young people with disabilities and additional needs and their families.

• We will be a forum for the views of parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs on Stockport's SEND service provision.

• We will ask parents and carers of children and young peop

le with disabilities and additional needs for their opinions. We will speak with a single voice for them.

• We will make parents and carers more confident as representatives. Enabling them to go on to then improve Stockport's services for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs

• We will work in partnership with Stockport Education, Health, Social Care and all other organisations in Stockport. Together we will Design, Develop and shape services which better meet the needs of children, young people and families better.

• We will provide information to parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs. This information will empower parent carers and help them to make better use of Stockport's services.

EPEC are looking for local parents to join their next Parent Group Leader training, starting this autumn!

As a Parent Group Leader, you’ll be trained and supported to run EPEC parenting courses with another parent, helping families in your community. It’s a chance to:

Capa First Response specialise in supporting families impacted by Child Against Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA). Their services are designed to address the complex challenges faced by families with children under 18 years of age, or up to 25 years old for those who are neurodivergent, whether a diagnosis has been made or not.

Relaxed/Autism Friendly Screenings have the following features:
The auditorium lights are lowered but not turned off
The sound is at a lower level than other screenings
There’s no adverts or trailers – so the films start promptly at the time shown
All customers are free to move around the auditorium

Banter and Brews - Men's Support Group

This month, Healthwatch Stockport are highlighting the importance of talking to support your mental health. One group that excels at this is Banter and Brews.

This men's support group (for ages 18 and up) offers a social space for men who are lonely, isolated, bored, or facing challenges such as alcohol or drug issues.

Meet-ups take place at various locations across Stockport. Members can socialise, share experiences, and take part in activities such as darts, pool, or cards. They also offer walking football in addition to regular meeting sessions.

The group organises outings and enrichment activities, alongside talks from outside agencies on subjects of interest.

📢 Important Update on Therapy Services

From 1st September 2025, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust will provide the NHS and SMBC-funded speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy provision across Stockport, now including the special schools. Children will continue to receive therapy support in schools, and staffing changes will be kept to a minimum, as far as possible.
