Just to let everyone know Poynton Golden Memories will be having a stall at the "Make A Difference Marketplace" event. 6-8pm on Thursday, 30th May.
This is a drop-in event for Poynton's local shops & businesses to meet the numerous groups, charities & their volunteers who benefit the whole of Poynton Town. Groups such as PGM providing Dementia support, transport for older residents, counselling for young people, bicycling for the disabled, meetings for older residents and many more.
No pressure to commit; just come along to see what's happening - BUT - every small gesture helps from sharing your expertise, promoting a local group to your employees, offering website support, sponsor a project, donate materials, lend a tradesperson, host a fundraiser, offer financial support, etc.
Whilst its a drop-in event, please register your interest with Sharon.Duke@poyntontowncouncil.gov.uk or give her a call on 01625 872238.

Has anyone come across Jubilee TV? Sounds amazing for those still able to live on their own or possibly in a Care Home. Just checked and it's available in UK.

So pleased to tell you that Poynton Golden Memories' Easter Parade was an enormous success last Wednesday (despite it being April Fool's day). We're pretty sure we had more Bonnets and Boaters than previous years. We welcomed Poynton's Mayor, Peter Oakes, (he even brought his own hat!) and gave him the hard task of choosing the best three. Great fun was had by all. Next meeting is on Wednesday, 15th April, in the Main Hall at Poynton Civic Centre, 11am-3pm £10.00 per couple (which includes refreshments, lunch & entertainment). No need to book - just drop in, the only proviso being the person living with Dementia is accompanied at all times by their spouse, relative or a carer.

Caring for a loved one with dementia is definitely like playing a guessing game!!

Zinnia TV is available in UK and quite true. It was more fun for my husband to watch nature programmes (David Attenborough, Monkey World, Life at Chester Zoo, etc) on iPlayer. I would comment/draw his attention to a particular animal or scene. Definitely worth a try.
