WELL - Poynton Golden Memories excelled themselves today - the photos and videos say it all. Our best meeting ever with 84 signed in for lunch [thank goodness Di Penny's on holiday - she threatened to walk when we had 50, then 60, etc. - Di has been an amazing, stalwart, volunteer (amongst others) who have been with PGM since our 1st meeting 18.1.2017
So, without more adieu, take a look at the following -

Just a reminder - there's a Time To Talk this Wednesday, 1:30 - 3:00pm at Poynton Civic Centre. No need to book; it's open to anyone who has, or is caring for someone with a memory problem. You don't have to be a member of Poynton Golden Memories - but you could pop in to see what fun we have in 'sharing the caring' of our loved ones living with Dementia.whilst you're in the building.

Simply being there with our loved ones on their dementia journey can be a source of great comfort and sometimes, that's enough.

Poynton Golden Memories celebrated their NINTH Birthday yesterday. Members just kept coming & coming which, with two new couples, meant we had 79 for lunch! Luckily we weren’t serving soup – our amazing kitchen volunteers have warned of a limit of 70 (but then they did that at 50 and 60).
Everyone was greeted with a cuppa & biscuits whilst singing along to our ‘House Band’ to relax. Julia followed at 12pm with light exercise, games and fun accompanied with a lot of 70’s disco music - this prompted lots of dancing, singing and laughter.
Peter from Reflections at High Lane Caterers brought an amazing buffet for lunch followed by a very tasty Birthday Cake(s) from Caketoppers
Katy Allan Soprano, joined us for lunch and entertained us afterwards with her wonderful voice and ability to interact beautifully with our members living with Dementia.
Many thanks also to our wonderful volunteers (some of whom have been coming since we started in 2017) for their dedication to PGM; ensuring that our members living with Dementia feel welcomed and their spouse/carer has time to relax, offload and chat with their peers.
I may be biased, but I feel that all our members and volunteers are one big happy family that would all help and look after each other A Dementia diagnosis is a sort of life sentence but there’s no reason to not enjoy the time with our loved ones in the meantime.

Goodness, it was only our second meeting in 2026 today and although there was very windy/rainy weather, we had almost the best turn-out of members since we started 9 years ago - and three new couples joined in the fun! Take a look at all the happy faces on these photos.
