Yesterday was International Women’s Day, a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of women everywhere.

Across our communities, workplaces, families, and public life, women show strength, compassion, leadership, and resilience every day. They support others, break down barriers, and inspire the next generation, often while balancing many roles at once.

International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a reminder: progress has been made, but there is still more to do to ensure equality, opportunity, and respect for all women.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, recognises that when we support, uplift and advocate for women, we all grow stronger together. At Mastercall, this connects directly to our people promise: Grow, Thrive, Belong, creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to develop, feel supported, and truly be themselves at work.

Throughout March we will be celebrating achievement, raising awareness, and taking positive action across the organisation, as we continue our commitment to championing inclusion and equality.

It is about recognising achievements, listening to experiences, and committing, together, to building a fairer future.

At Mastercall, kindness isn’t just something we show occasionally, it’s one of our core values, guiding how we care for our patients and support each other every day.

This year’s theme, “Together, we can make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time,” reminds us that even the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact; a listening ear, a supportive word, or going the extra mile for a colleague or patient.

Today, Mastercall was honoured to attend the Healthwatch Stockport farewell event. It was a truly warm, uplifting, fun and heartfelt occasion, not only a time for reflection, but also a celebration of the organisation’s achievements and the lasting impact it has made on the community. Healthwatch Staff and partners shared tributes and stories that highlighted Healthwatch’s legacy and the difference it has made to so many lives..

Following the event, Mastercall’s CEO, Michaela Buck, shared these words of thanks to Healthwatch Stockport:

“It was an honour to attend the Healthwatch Stockport farewell celebration and to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work you have done over the years.

On behalf of everyone at Mastercall, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the entire Healthwatch Stockport team. Your unwavering commitment to listening to patients, amplifying their voices, and holding the system to account has made a real and lasting difference to the lives of so many people across Stockport. You have been a trusted advocate for those who might otherwise have gone unheard, and that legacy matters deeply.

As the health and care landscape continues to change following the demise of NHS England, it is important to recognise the values you have consistently stood for: independence, compassion, integrity, and a relentless focus on what truly matters, patients and communities. Those values have shaped better services and stronger partnerships, and they will continue to influence the system long after this chapter closes.

Thank you for your dedication, your courage, and your humanity. You leave behind a proud legacy and the respect and gratitude of colleagues, partners, and, most importantly, the patients you have supported so tirelessly.

⏰ Reminder: help us improve the experience of waiting for urgent care

We’re still asking patients and members of the public to share their views on how waiting for urgent care could feel clearer, calmer and more supportive.

We would especially welcome feedback from:

- People from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities

- People with learning disabilities

- Families, carers and supporters who help others use urgent care services

Waiting for updates or information can feel worrying. We want to understand:

- What information helps most

- When it’s most needed

- How technology could work better for you while you wait

You don’t need any technical knowledge. Just tell us what your experience has been and what would have helped.

Help us take the worry out of waiting for urgent care.

As a partnership of mission-driven social enterprise providers, we’re committed to making the experience of waiting for urgent care clearer, calmer and more supportive for patients.

Waiting for an update, GP Home Visit or a clinical assessment can feel stressful. We want to understand what information helps, when it’s most needed, and how technology could be used better to keep people informed and reassured while they wait.

That’s where you come in.

We’re asking patients and members of the public to share their experiences and ideas. You don’t need technical knowledge — just your honest view of what would make a difference. It will only take 2 minutes and could help make a big difference.

We’re incredibly proud to be one of the providers, alongside partner organisations within the Greater Manchester Urgent Primary Care Alliance, helping to deliver the Greater Manchester Falls Lifting Response Service.

The Greater Manchester Falls Lifting Response Team has been named an NHS Greater Manchester Christmas Hero, in recognition of their outstanding work supporting people who have fallen but are not seriously injured.

This vital service provides rapid, compassionate care in people’s own homes, helping to reduce long lies, avoid unnecessary ambulance call-outs, and ease pressure on emergency departments. Operating seven days a week, the team supported 278 people last winter alone, ensuring the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone involved for your professionalism, compassion, and commitment during one of the busiest times for the NHS. We’re proud to play our part in delivering this essential service.
