Alan Johnson holds a Masters Degree in Osteopathy. Before completing his Masters at university, he was a personal trainer at a very popular health club. Alan wanted to progress in the health and fitness industry so he went on to research and observe other forms of Musculo-skeletal medicine, which included working with a Chiropractor and observing the Physiotherapy department at a local Hospital. Osteopathy is something that he had never experienced before which he found fascinating. After further research on Osteopathy and observing other Osteopaths in there clinical practice, he was hooked!!!.... He found that Osteopathy is all about finding the root cause of symptoms and not just about treating them.
Osteopathy is a full-time 4-year Masters Degree or 5-years part-time which include Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Nutrition and Biomechanics. Osteopaths must complete at least 1000 clinical hours before passing an intense FCC (Final Clinical Competency) examination.
Osteopathy has given him the training and ability to treat a range of musculo-skeletal problems, from joint/ spinal pain, shoulder and elbow injuries to disc problems causing nerve root issues, soft tissue injuries such as muscles and ligaments and treatment of tension-type headaches.
Since graduating as a Osteopath, Alan has completed extensive courses in advanced spinal manipulation and the treatment of Shoulder complaints. Alan has also recently qualified as a Perrin practitioner which specializes in the treatment of M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and was taught by Dr Perrin himself.
