I’m away this week… and I’m still in the gym early.
Before anyone rolls their eyes 😅
This isn’t a “look at me, aren’t I amazing” post.
And it’s definitely not me expecting the people I coach to train while they’re on holiday.
It’s just an explanation of why I do.
First up…
I love ice cream.
My dentist (and my teeth 🦷) probably don’t.
I’m fully committed to daily holiday ice cream.
Secondly, I feel better when I train.
And surely the whole point of going away is to feel good?
Thirdly, I actually enjoy training in new places.
BUT…
Even walking into a new gym, I still get the nerves.
Every single time.
The conversation in my head is unreal.
“I could leave it today… I’m on holiday.”
“How will I fit in?”
“What if I don’t understand people or can’t hear them?”
(Maybe that one’s just a deaf-person fear.)
Plus a few other thoughts I’ll keep to myself 😅
And that’s the point.
It’s completely normal to feel nervous, anxious, excited, all of it, when walking into a gym, especially for the first time.
But honestly… every single time I ignore that noise and walk through the door, I feel a thousand times better afterwards.
That’s why I do it.
Not for discipline points.
Not to be “good”.
Just because it helps me feel better, on holiday or not.
And if you’ve ever felt those same nerves… you’re not broken.
You’re just human.
