Hello my lovelies and welcome to February. Pinch, punch first of the month! Today is Day 32 of 2026 with 46 days to go until spring begins.

The name of February comes from the Latin word “februum” which means purification, and over time, the length of February kept changing and believe it or not, at one point, it had as little as 23 days! This goes back to pre 46 BC when Julius Ceaser introduced the calendar we know and use today. The photo below (Photograph by Bauglir / CC BY-SA 4.0) shows the Roman wall calendar dating from 84-55 BCE shows “FEB” as the second month.

February is the only month when it’s possible to go the entire month without having a full moon. However, this year we have the Snow Moon making its appearance tonight, the 1st of February.

The Snow Moon, though winter is still here, this time of year is all about resting and renewal. Clearing and releasing what we no longer need and preparing for the future. It is a time when we need to take a step back and rest, and this Snow Full Moon encourages us to slow down, conserve our energy, and prepare internally for the new cycle ahead.

As the present year ends and a new one begins, we reflect on all that has happened during the past year. Revelations, losses and gains and a wedding celebration. Our sad goodbyes, and our new hellos, ensuring life never stays the same.
