Myth Buster: “Dermal Fillers Always Migrate”

This is a common worry — and like most myths, there’s some truth, but not the full picture. Let Adam explain…

Filler can migrate if it’s placed at the wrong depth, in the wrong area, or if an unsuitable product is used for that individual’s anatomy. That risk increases when treatments aren’t properly assessed or performed with appropriate technique.

In our clinic, migration risk is managed from the start. We carry out a detailed consultation and facial assessment to decide whether filler is the right option at all. If it is, product choice matters — the thickness, flexibility and volume must suit both the area being treated and your natural facial structure.

Technique is key. Correct placement and depth are critical, and advanced skills (including cannula use where appropriate) help achieve safer, more natural outcomes. Aftercare also plays an important role in allowing filler to settle as intended.

When done properly, dermal filler should support your features subtly. It shouldn’t move, look obvious, or draw attention.

As with all modern hyaluronic acid fillers, the products we use are reversible. In the unlikely event something isn’t right on review, filler can be safely dissolved using a specific medication a last-resort option, but an important one for overall safety.

Myth Buster: “Cheaper Treatments Are the Same Product”

We hear this a lot! Usually from long-term clients who tell us about a friend or relative getting deals like “3 areas for £75” or “filler for £25 a syringe”.

It’s understandable to be tempted, but allow me to try and explain the truth behind those prices.

Our pricing reflects two things: reputable products and clinical expertise. We use licensed, UK-sourced products with proven track records — the kind you’d expect from a proper UK pharmacy supply chain.

That costs more than grey-market stock, unknown brands, or products that have been mishandled, diluted, or simply aren’t what they claim to be.

The second part is skill and accountability. I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years and spent years studying at degree and Master’s level to develop advanced assessment and clinical decision-making. In aesthetics, that matters: the safest, most natural results come from proper consultation, anatomy-led planning, careful technique, and knowing when to say no.

If a price looks too good to be true on the local high street, there’s usually a reason. The most important question isn’t “how cheap is it?” — it’s: what happens if something doesn’t go to plan? Myth Buster: Anti-wrinkle injections: Once You Start, You Cant Stop!

This is a really common question we regularly get asked... but it isn’t actually true!

Anti-wrinkle injections are temporary. If you stop treatment, muscle movement gradually returns and your skin settles back to its natural state - not worse than before. Many people actually find their skin looks slightly better, as lines haven’t been repeatedly creased over time.

In my clinic, treatments are subtle and anatomy-led. The aim is to soften lines while keeping your face looking natural, expressive, and unmistakably you - never frozen, obvious, or overdone. These treatments can be a one-off or repeated a few times a year. There’s no obligation to continue.

Most importantly, saying no is part of good practice. If something risks looking unnatural or won’t give the right result, I’ll always be honest.

Aesthetic treatment results should enhance, not announce themselves.
