🌍 World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18–24 November) 🌍

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the biggest health threats we face today, jeopardizing our ability to treat common infections. Misuse and overuse of antibiotics and other antimicrobials are driving resistance, making infections harder—and sometimes impossible—to treat.

During World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, let’s come together to raise awareness and take action.
By using antibiotics responsibly, we can help preserve their effectiveness for future generations. 🌍💊

đź’Š What can YOU do?

*Only take antibiotics when prescribed by a healthcare professional.
*Always complete the full course of treatment.
*Never share or use leftover antibiotics.

Invitations to breast screening are being sent out by letter to females aged 50 to 70, registered with Heaton Mersey Medical Practice.

Appointments take place on the mobile unit based at Shaw Heath.

If you haven’t received your letter, check your GP has your correct contact details.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females.

Breast screening helps to spot cancer early, often when it’s too small to see or feel.

Don’t miss your appointment, it could save your life.

Sick of the same 4 walls? Before you take the kids to the park on a sunny day, make sure you’re prepared (yes, even in Greater Manchester!)

Wear at least SPF30 sunscreen (higher for kids).
Cover up and wear a hat.
Try to find a shady spot.

Warm humid weather can trigger asthma symptoms too. So, remember - keep inhalers at hand!

Have you heard of hepatitis C? Anyone can acquire hepatitis C - using drugs like co***ne or he**in, injecting steroids and having a tattoo, piercing or medical procedure abroad are just a few ways you can contract it. The virus can be cured, but if left untreated it can lead to liver damage, cirrhosis, and even liver cancer.
This World Hepatitis Day we are urging anyone who thinks that they may be at risk to order a free and confidential home testing kit: hepctest.nhs.uk/ref/whd24
