Shingles is a common condition that causes a painful rash. It can sometimes lead to serious problems such as long-lasting pain, hearing loss or blindness.

You're more likely to get shingles, and it's more likely to cause serious problems, as you get older or if you have a severely weakened immune system.

The shingles vaccine helps:

reduce your chances of getting shingles
reduce your chances of getting serious problems if you do get shingles

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is one of the common viruses that cause coughs and colds in winter. RSV causes mild symptoms in most people, but can be serious for some infants, older adults and people with chronic medical conditions as it can lead to pneumonia (a lung infection) and bronchiolitis (a chest infection that affects babies).

Bowel cancer screening uses a test called a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) to look for blood in a sample of your poo. This could be a sign of bowel cancer.

You collect the sample at home and send it by post to be tested.

It can help find cancer early, and before you have any symptoms, which may mean it's easier to treat. Bowel cancer screening is currently offered to people aged 50 to 74 every 2 years.

This is because your risk of getting bowel cancer gets higher as you get older.

This month is Stress Awareness Month.
Stress is a bodies natural response to feeling threatened, overwhelmed or under pressure. Our bodies are signaling that something is wrong and our brain releases hormones to prepare us to deal with the threat. However, if stress becomes a daily part of life we may try to ignore our bodies signals that something is wrong rather than addressing the 'threat'. If you feel like stress is impacting your daily life SilverCloud maybe you first step to feeling better. SilverCloud can help you identify the cause of your stress and guide you in how to address and manage the trigger.
