My picture is of the welldressing on the Brindley Well in Wormhill.
A beautiful image, so skillfully constructed, for the brief week of its existence, before the natural materials all fade and decay. Long may these valued traditions continue.
A very special aspect of this one is the "CD" in the top right hand corner, a perfect memorial for someone who had made enormous contributions to the village well dressings over the years, but died recently. What a very special, fitting and unique tribute.

Remembering the story of Grace Darling at her memorial in Bamburgh. One heroic young woman, who survived that famous rescue of shipwrecked sailors in 1838. But died of consumption in 1842 aged only 26. Long ago. But what sadness for her family.

Talking of simple things which bring solace... I just made marmalade. Somehow stirring the sweet preparation in the old brass jam pan, that's been in my family for well over 100 years, brought such a deep connection with childhood, with my Mum. Such a warm satisfying comforting feeling. Maybe that is how she is still in my heart? Anyway, it's jolly good!

We have been entrusted with the funeral arrangements of the late Jason Wilson. A truly kind, generous gentleman who was loved by everyone

His Celebration of Life will take place at Adlington Memorial Park, Mill Lane, Adlington SK10 4LF on Tuesday 29th October at 11.30am followed by a private family only gathering at Macclesfield Crematorium.

After the service at the park, everyone is welcome to The Windmill Pub, Holehouse Lane, Whiteley Green SK10 5SJ for refreshments.

Family only flowers please. There will be a Donation box on the day and all donations raised will be forwarded to St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield who looked after Jason’s Mum.

Louise, Jack, Alycea and the family would like to thank you for the terrific support you have given them during this extremely challenging time.
