Talking of simple things which bring solace... I just made marmalade. Somehow stirring the sweet preparation in the old brass jam pan, that's been in my family for well over 100 years, brought such a deep connection with childhood, with my Mum. Such a warm satisfying comforting feeling. Maybe that is how she is still in my heart? Anyway, it's jolly good!

After a particularly intense time for me, and at this time of Divali and Remembrance, I am drawn to these words of the Shanti Path Mantra.

We have been entrusted with the funeral arrangements of the late Jason Wilson. A truly kind, generous gentleman who was loved by everyone

His Celebration of Life will take place at Adlington Memorial Park, Mill Lane, Adlington SK10 4LF on Tuesday 29th October at 11.30am followed by a private family only gathering at Macclesfield Crematorium.

After the service at the park, everyone is welcome to The Windmill Pub, Holehouse Lane, Whiteley Green SK10 5SJ for refreshments.

Family only flowers please. There will be a Donation box on the day and all donations raised will be forwarded to St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield who looked after Jason’s Mum.

Louise, Jack, Alycea and the family would like to thank you for the terrific support you have given them during this extremely challenging time.

Yesterday’s ceremony was desperately sad, but genuinely a Celebration of Life as well. We can do both sometimes. The pain and anguish is there, but it is still possible to smile or even laugh at the good memories.
Prosecco corks popping at the end of the ceremony set the tone. “She would have loved it”, her widower said.
