Whether it's losing a loved one to cardiac arrest or coping with the devastating impact of heart failure, far too many of us have felt the pain that cardiovascular diseases cause. During February, there are many ways you can get involved in Heart Month. Monitor your blood pressure regularly is one of them. How about taking on a walking challenge. You could even fundraise your own way. Do whatever you love to help power lifesaving research. You could also learn CPR with British Heart Foundation free training.

Walking outdoors has many benefits such as improved mood and mental clarity. Outdoor walking can enhance mood by increasing serotonin and endorphin levels, which are associated with feelings of happiness and well-being. It can also help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Regular walking, especially in natural settings, has been linked to improved cognitive function and a lower risk of dementia. It increases blood flow to the brain, which supports neuroplasticity and overall brain health.
Walking outdoors can foster social connections, whether it's walking with friends or meeting others in community spaces. So don't wait, get yourself out there tomorrow on Take a walk outdoors day, and see how many people say hello to you.

Doctors typically recommend that adult women get cervical screenings every 3 to five years, depending on their specific situation and risk factors. Perhaps using Cervical Cancer Awareness Month as a reminder, and be sure to schedule an appointment with one of our practice nurses.

Don't Forget Your Flu Vaccine!
With the flu season here, we are encouraging anyone who is eligible who hasn't already, to get their flu vaccine to protect themselves and their loved ones, especially at a time when social gatherings make flu more likely to spread.

Flu can both be serious and changes every year, so it’s important to get the vaccine every year. The vaccines are safe, effective, and help protect those most at risk. Please contact the surgery to book your appointment.

The festive season can be a joyful time, but for some, it may bring added stress or risk. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, remember that help is available—even during the holidays. Reach out to trusted friends, family, or local support services, and keep emergency numbers accessible. If you feel unsafe, try to have a plan in place, such as identifying a safe space or contacting a helpline. You are not alone, and support is just a call away - https://www.domesticabusestockport.co.uk
