Today is talk like a pirate day 🏴‍☠️

We gathered our hearties and went in search of a seadog but found a bunch of scallywags!

There was lots of shouting ahoy matey and even more arrrrs ☠️

We didn't find any b***y but we had fun saying splice the mainbrace when the tea trolly came around ☕️

Luckily no one had to walk the plank 🏴‍☠️

We all enjoyed a visit from Sarah Paterson - Harpist this morning, playing beautiful music on her harp 🪉

We had a full room with 29 people joining us in the lounge to listen to her play ❤️

She played lots of songs we knew and could sing along to including songs from The Beatles and Carpenters.

We can't wait for her to come back later in the year to play for us again 🎵🎶

Maddie said, "What a clever girl."

Ray said, "Wonderful."

Yesterday was another busy day in our salon 💇‍♀️💅

Our ladies and gents have a good catch up with each other while there too.

Julie is off next week but will be back in the salon on Thursday 2nd October.

Over the last week it has been lovely to watch Maddie take care of the babies in our home 🥰 She makes sure they are dressed and warm and takes them everywhere with her. Wrapping them in their blankets and talking to them, she is doing an excellent job and tells them, "Nanna will look after you."

She got them ready this morning to come to the salon with her, she took them to lunch in the dining room and then showed them to Ted who helped her to look after them 😍

Doll therapy can unlock special memories and provide comfort as well as having many other benefits.

Others have stopped to look at them and chat about them with Maddie. At the salon Audrey asked, "Are they boys or girls?"

Next week on Thursday 25th it's the Elm Tree Social Club's residents socials.

We won't be attending this month but please take your loved one along for a fun afternoon ☕️

This afternoon we were joined by Jo and Shelly from Tees Valley Museums to take part in their Stockton and Darlington Railway inspired art session 🚂

With the 200th anniversary of the modern railway coming up next week we celebrated early by making our very own railway inspired bunting.

We made our own designs then printed them onto both paper and fabric in our chosen colours. After we made a few we got really creative and mixed our colours to produce some abstract prints 🖼

We all had a lovely afternoon with our friends from Ingleby care home- Hillcare joining us too 🥰

Huge thank you to Jo and Shelly for providing everything we needed for a great afternoon and helping us to make our bunting 🤗 We have hung it up in our activities lounge ❤️

For German food and culture month we enjoyed a German themed coffee morning 🇩🇪🥨🧀

We tried some German food while listening to German music.

There were 5 different types of German sausage, pretzels, German smoked cheese, German meatballs and fruit to try with a cup of coffee or tea ☕️

We chatted about time we've spent in Germany and our veterans told us about the time they spent there when they served in the Armed Forces.

Barrie even spoke to us in German, although no one knows what he said 🤭

Today Ann enjoyed a trip to The Arc in Stockton for this months cinema club with Teesside Dementia Link Services 🎥

She loved meeting Mark and Gail and other people attending the cinema 🥰

The film this month was High Society and Ann sang along to all of the songs 🎵🎶

Afterwards we went into town and picked some German food up ready for our coffee morning tomorrow 🇩🇪🥨🧀

Ann said, "Thank you for taking me to the cinema. I've really enjoyed myself."

We're not sure what next months film is yet but we will let you know as soon as we know.
