The Health MOT is a relaxed, 45-minute assessment where we take time to understand you. From there, from there you'll have a personal plan with expert coaching to progress you safely, at your own pace, with the right balance of strength, mobility and confidence so you never feel lost when you walk through the doors. I noticed this problem 10 years ago

While working with a client I noticed something.
She couldn't straighten her elbows while lifting dumbbells...

It wasn't that the weight heavy.

I got her to try without. Same problem.

What's worse is...
She thought they were straight!

I got her to stand in front of the mirror.
She was shocked...
Worried, she asked:

"Why can't I do it?..."

Honestly, I didn't know.
What's more shocking is she didn't know.
Everything felt 'normal'.

And that's the thing...
Most don't notice till there's actual pain.

We don't notice subtle and tiny changes.

Then one day things we took for granted feel harder...

“I used to love walking round Preston Park…”

That’s what one lady told me recently.

It was something she'd do regular.
Now knee pain makes even getting out of the chair a challenge.

I hear problems like this all the time. Now these ladies are saying:

“I’d get halfway round and my knees are gone.”

The annoying thing is they're hoping rest, scans, medication and injections will solve it.

But sadly they're just a mask and only work for a short time.

Look, your body isn’t the same as it was 20 years ago.
After 35 you start losing muscle...

If you're 50, if you're going through or post menopause, things only get harder.

Because you're losing muscle faster.
That means less protection.
That's less support for your Joints.
That's why everyday stuff feels harder

Most ladies know this and still say:

"I'll see how it goes..."

Let me tell you
First, it’s a bit of stiffness.
Then it’s discomfort kneeling down,
Then the stairs take longer
Then getting off the loo is hard

Parents and grandparents didn't wake up dependant one day.
It started decades before. Pain can be a leading indicator...

Where it starts with your knees, it then puts stress on your hips.
That's when those walks become harder.
That's when you do things less and find things harder.

You start questioning where you can, asking:

“Am I 'too' old?”
“Should I be taking it easy?”
“Will this make things worse?”

So you play it safe.
That's when life gets smaller

But here’s the thing…
Doing less doesn’t fix it.

It's actually making things worse.

Because the less you use your muscles,
the less they support your knees.

People think walking is good too.
Truth is walking is great.
It’s just… not enough anymore.

Because healthy knees don’t just need movement.
They need support. They need strength.

Think of muscle like the scaffolding for your joints.

Walking keeps using it…
but it doesn’t build muscle.
And that's what you need.

We often find it gives feelings of guilt...

Prioritising your health isn't selfish.
