The biggest mistake with following plans...

When you jump into someone elses plan...
When you follow their diet or exercise routine...

You're living your life by their terms.

When someone says
'Fasting' is best for health...
'Pilates or yoga' is best for core strength...

All they're doing is imposing their beliefs on you.

Ladies say "I've heard strength training is best for building muscle"

"That's one way..." I'll respond.

Here's the thing
Unless, I know you.
Unless, I understand what you want.
It doesn't matter.

Because fasting is only as good as the person who follows it.
Pilates only helps those who are consistent.
The same's true for strength training.

What matters is what you want and how consistently you take action to achieve it.

What's the point of gyms...?

The problem is Heather is right.
30, 40 or 50 mins won't change your life.

But if you're someone that's inactive or you don't have the time that's where you start.

We always want the biggest 'bang for your time' to get you started

How you build from there is up to you.

Many still get this wrong...

Even medical professionals make this mistake..Usually because they also never do it and don't understand it.

Here's 5 Truths about Lifting Heavy:

1️⃣ It's relative...
For one person, 40kg is too much.
For someone trained it's a warm up.

If it's not challenging you, it'll never change you.

2️⃣ It's your insurance...
After 30 you're losing muscle.
After menopause that loss happens faster.

Less muscle =
❌ Less strength
❌ Lower metabolism
❌ Less balance
❌ Poorer health

3️⃣ Bad Knees are Weak Knees
Wear & tear it's overuse.
It's actually underuse.

Joints stressed through load are healthy.
Inactive joints deteriorate like a decomposing body. 🪦

4️⃣ Load & Stress building healthy bones
Astronauts lose muscle and bone in space.
There's no gravity, no load, no stress.

Marathorn runners have strong health joints.
Their muscles and bones adapt to stress.

5️⃣ It's so much more than strength...
How you walk, talk and carry yourself changes.

Strength gives you confidence.
Makes you feel less "old".
Make you trust in your body.
Helps you feel capable.

Training looks different after 40...

When you're finding it hard get upstairs
When doing daily chores hurts

When you're constantly aching and struggling for energy that's when things need to change.

It's no longer about how much you weigh.
It's not about getting in shape for an after pic...

It's about showing up and having the energy for the people you care about.

It's NOT over till you give up.

I often speak to ladies who are struggling with knee pain,
who are on the waiting list for scans, injections or surgery.

They've often waited weeks, months or even longer to be seen.
Many of them have been struggling for way longer too

Still when it comes to change,
when it comes to getting out of that pain,
often they commit to more waiting and hoping

But hoping won't protect your knees from the strength you're losing.

22/02/2026

They notice before you.

When you're getting stronger
When your fitness is improving
When your health is better

One session doesn't change that.

It's your ability to keep showing up for weeks, months and longer. Even on the days when you just can't be arsed!

Core training gets on my t*t5

People who want core strength often need mobility instead.

I've assessed 000s over the last 10 years.
Many who said they had a weak core.
Zero that actually did.

Here's the issue:
When muscles are stiff/tight/immobile
Core training could make things worse.

If you're backs tight and you try to strength those tight muscles you'll end up with more pain.

We hear this too often 🤦🏻‍♂️

It takes forever to been seen.
Once you're in your rushed out with basic help.

After a knee replacement it's no different.

Liz worried about doing too much.
Without out the guidance who can blame her...

20/02/2026

It's your Health Pension.

For many it's the difference between the number of years you've got left

And the quality of those years...

Is this the worst Health Indicator?

Body scanners tell how your body is made up.

How much muscle, water and body fat you have.
But they're prone to being inaccurate.

Body fat percentage is often seen as a health marker, but how good is it really?

Turns on on scans it's really inaccurate.
If you were to scan twice one after the other it would change.

Sometimes it can jump as much as 10%

In reality the only TRUE way to see what's fat and what isn't...

Would be to kill you and cut you up...
So yea, it's a pretty pointless indicator for health.

What you really get...

18/02/2026

So funny...

This is Chris after "Spending some time" in a mobility position.

When you want to improve your mobility you need to spend time where you want to improve.

Say you're hips are 'tight' you could squat.
It's not the movement that improves mobility.
It's the time you spend in the position thats hard.

We often get our ladies to spend 20, 30 even 60 seconds in the bottom of a squat.

You'll never overcome 8 hours of sitting with a few stretches or squats. But being stronger make you better able to cope.
