💛 Adult Carers – Your Voice Matters 💛

We’ve been listening to feedback from our Adult Carers Support Service consultation survey, and you told us how important connection, local support, and being able to meet in person really are.

As a result, we’re focusing on:
✅ Establishing local carer support groups in the community
✅ Hosting regular sessions and events for carers
✅ Creating more opportunities to meet us face to face, access information, and feel supported

Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also feel isolating. You’re not alone — we’re here to listen, support, and connect you with others who understand.

❄️ A Yellow Cold-Health Alert has been issued by the for the North East - in effect between 26/01/2026 and 30/01/2026 at 18:00.

Cold weather causes increased risk to the health of vulnerable individuals. Please see the tips below for keeping yourself and those you care for safe during cold weather:

Plan ahead
• Check the weather forecast and the news.
• Make sure you have sufficient food and medicine.
• Take simple measures to reduce draughts at home.

Keep yourself warm
• Try to heat rooms you spend a lot of time in, such as the living room or bedroom, to at least 18°C.
• Keep your bedroom windows closed at night.
• Wear several layers of thinner clothing; this could keep you warmer than one thicker layer.

Prepare your home
• Check what support for housing and energy bills may be available for you.
• Use energy saving tips to save money on heating.
• Make sure appliances are safe and working well.

Protect yourself and the people around you by getting the vaccines you’re eligible for, like COVID-19, flu, pneumococcal and RSV. These vaccines help keep you healthy and stop the spread of serious illnesses to others. Visit the NHS website for more information about winter vaccinations.

Get help if needed. Call NHS 111 or in an emergency 999.

Pop the kettle on this

For some, January is the time of year for new beginnings, resolutions and making plans, but for others, it can be a struggle.

This Brew Monday, 19 January, Samaritans is reminding everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with the people you care about.

So, pop the kettle on and reach for your favourite mug. Brew Monday is a great opportunity to reach out to family, friends, and loved ones, to stay connected with the people you care about.

Samaritans have some great tips for listening and helping someone open up as well as more information on how to get involved on Brew Monday with awareness raising and fundraising.

If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, visit the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council website for more information on the support available locally.
