Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees

Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees We are the independent champion for people who use health and care services across Stockton. Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees is a part of Healthwatch England.

We are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services. We listen to what people tell us about the services they use locally and want to know what is working well and what needs to be improved. Where necessary we have a statutory power to go into any health or social care premises to see at first hand the service being delivered. We can talk to patients/carers and to staff members to gather more information. We share the information we gather with those who have the power to make change happen. We also help people find the information they need about services in their area.

Mental Health Matters: Jane’s Story

We’ve published a new case study highlighting the real-life experience of a young person who waited nearly two years for support. Her story sparked real change.

"Jane’s story is sadly not unique. We’re committed to ensuring services are accessible, compassionate, and fit for purpose." Natasha Douglas, Manager, Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees

The Kooth UK online mental health support service is ending in Tees Valley on 31 Dec 2025.

A new service from the North East and North Cumbria NHS will launch in January 2026 to better support young people’s mental health.

We will share more information as it becomes available.

The NHS 10-year plan means more eye health services will be delivered by opticians and other community providers, rather than in hospitals.

The RNIB is gathering views to understand what you currently go to your opticians for, and how you’d feel about accessing more services there in future.

Your feedback will help inform wider conversations about the future of eyecare, including discussions with the NHS.

You can take the survey and help shape the future of eye services: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3657DYV
