Teesside Architectural Salvage

Teesside Architectural Salvage Please contact Lee on 07738402953 prior to visiting the yard. Sometimes i’m busy salvaging during the week, viewing items and completing deliveries.

In the late 1990's Lee Skelton 'served his time' under the guidance of Pete Chapman at Au Temps Perdu. A keen interest in reclaimed materials was retained to the point Teesside Architectural was formed. Teesside Architectural Salvage (TAS) supply reclaimed building materials and internal fixtures and fittings.

First fireplace restoration of the year. Some lovely customers picked it out a couple of months ago, now delivered to its new home in Elwick. A bit more tidying up at the yard, a stripping tank to get up and running then I can restore a few more fires 🔥

I’d said to myself just before Christmas no more salvaging until I tidy the yard and make some space, the phone goes from a local demo / soft strip company and I’m on-site again stripping rads and collecting chimney pots. There’s lots of cast iron radiators in stock at the moment..

I’ve came across some wonderful items as usual this year, but this has to be my favourite.. A huge cast iron woodworking machinery base by T.Robinson & Son Ltd Rochdale, the bulk of the frame is a one and a half inch casting, this can be repurposed for the most amazing table base, but you’ll need a floor strong enough to take the weight. The other base is by FJ.Edwards Ltd London N.W.1 who also produced various metal working machinery.

This weeks task carefully dismantling an oak fronted and iroko topped science lab. There’s a large quantity of base units which could make the most amazing kitchen. Initially it will be for sale as one lot including the worktops. A staircase alteration in the 1990’s means some of the larger units are still in-situ, but we’ll remove them from the room via a window on Monday and transport them back to the yard then. Open today 10-4pm

Yesterday’s graft stripping out a huge pulpit with my dad, the base section could make a wonderful bar frontage with the top section possibly the ceiling mounted bar gantry, shop counter etc, or hopefully it can stay together as one unit, the central mouldings which hide the joint were also carefully removed. Today’s task involved removing the pulpit from the church and back to the yard, nigh on 4 mtr in length so it was a job and a half
