A message from Liliana, CATS director.
Happy New Year to everyone!
I waited a couple of days before posting this, reflecting—as many of us do—on the year just gone and what lies ahead.
As a company, CATS continues to go from strength to strength. In less than two weeks we will be moving to new premises, alongside securing many new contracts. I am incredibly proud of our growth, which is down to a large, dedicated, and hardworking team. I am proud of our leadership, proud of our staff, and genuinely looking forward to what 2026 will bring.
At the same time, my reflections were shaped by what I have seen repeatedly on social media over the past couple of weeks: families in matching pyjamas, families in exotic locations, smiling snapshots of what a “happy family” appears to look like.
My thoughts, however, were with the many loving families we work with every day. Families facing very real struggles rooted in trauma—where healing is needed and where love alone is sometimes not enough.
Matching pyjamas mean nothing in my books.
If you managed to be present with your children despite wanting to hide away, that is good enough.
If you kept your head above water when you felt like you were drowning, that is good enough.
If the most exotic place you went was your sofa, holding a child experiencing profound emotional distress, that is good enough.
If you somehow managed to look after yourself, that is good enough.
Most of this will never make it onto social media. But I know that love is the glue that holds families together despite the hardship.
As for New Year’s resolutions—none, really. I simply want to keep doing what I have been doing for over twenty years: supporting families, offering the strength of my presence as a therapist using my skills as best as I can, reminding them they are not alone, and letting them know how grateful I am for their trust.
I will continue to walk alongside them on their difficult journeys, knowing that sometimes my best is not enough—but always showing up.
And this, nevertheless, is the ethos of our CATS!
