In the UK, anti-wrinkle treatments (botulinum toxin) are prescription-only medicines. This means:

• A face-to-face medical assessment must take place
• A qualified prescriber must assess suitability
• Medical history, medications & contraindications must be reviewed
• Emergency management plans must be in place

Complications are rare — but when they happen, they require clinical knowledge, prescribing authority and immediate action.
