We’re thrilled to announce that Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s maternity and neonatal services have achieved Stage 2 Accreditation from UNICEF UK's Baby Friendly Initiative!

This milestone recognises the successful implementation of a robust training system, ensuring every team member is equipped to support infant feeding and build strong parent-baby relationships. Each staff member completes an intensive two-day training course, followed by annual updates to maintain excellence in care.

Michelle East, Director of Midwifery, shared: “This achievement is a testament to the passion and professionalism of our maternity and neonatal staff. We are incredibly proud of all our colleagues who have contributed to this success. With Stage 2 now complete, we are working towards Stage 3 accreditation, which focuses on parents’ experiences. The team is already working hard towards achieving this next goal, continuing to place families at the heart of everything we do as we continue on our journey to achieve the Gold Award.”

🔬Opportunity to take part in a research study on pre-term birth

🏥 Stoke Mandeville Hospital are one of many hospitals taking part in a study into pre-term birth. The study is being undertaken in conjunction with Imperial College London, Tommy's National Centre for Preterm Birth Research and Genomics England Limited

📝 The goals of the study are to:
1. Understand the genetic reasons behind preterm birth
2. Improve how we manage and prevent preterm birth
3. Develop ways to predict who might be at higher risk of having a preterm birth based on their genetic information

💻 If you’d consider taking part (or if you’d like more information) please contact bht.og.research@nhs.net

💜 We know this may be a difficult subject for some and share this information with sensitivity and respect
