The nurses marked Kangaroo Care Day on the unit last week with some sweet treats baked by Teresa, served by a very friendly Kangaroo 🦘

Kangaroo care is skin-to-skin contact that helps babies feel safe, supported, and close to their families during their neonatal journey 👶 From regulating temperature and breathing to strengthening bonding and promoting development, these precious moments make a world of difference 💜

A lovely and very important message from the wonderful Bucks Maternity and Neonatal Voices - MNVP about maternal mental health.

Today is Maternal Mental Health Day 🤍

For some parents, the early days with a new baby don’t feel how they expected.

I experienced postnatal depression after having my second baby.

For weeks, I struggled to feel any connection. I didn’t want to look at him- it felt like he just existed in my space, rather than feeling like my baby.

It’s hard to say out loud, but I know I’m not the only one who has felt this way.

Maternal mental health challenges can affect anyone — and they can look very different from person to person.

🤍 You are not a bad parent
🤍 You are not alone
🤍 Things can get better

If you’re struggling, please reach out- whether that’s to a health professional, a support service, or someone you trust.

We’ll be sharing resources today and for the rest of the week 💜
