Flowers from No. 8 is a local florist - she is fabulous and can make flower sprays that can be broken down and gifted after the service

I have been a lucky recipient of some of their flowers and they are beautiful ###

I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our team!

For those who don’t know we run workshops called ‘It’s YOUR Funeral’ where we talk about funeral options, what happens after you die, myth bust and answer lots of questions you throw at us! (Send me a message if you would like information!)

This new staff member will be taken along to these workshops and will live with me when he isn’t out socialising! - please don’t worry he won’t be sat at the back at services!!!

He needs a name!! What should we call him?!

🎶 What song would you pick? 🎶

This song is, I would say, in the top 10 songs at funerals. I love it! We had it at my father in laws and it always makes me smile.

We even did a singalong once! With the words printed like a hymn in the order of service! It was fab and everyone left with a smile!

We received some very sad news last week.

Our wonderful John who works at Birches Crematorium & Remembrance Park passed away very suddenly.

John had been at Birches before they even opened their doors to families, he was always a friendly face at The chapel doors and did pretty much all of the cremations in the early days.

John looked after your loved ones after their service here at The Old Chapel, with care and compassion along with his amazing team.

He was a brilliant man, funny, caring - he gave the best hugs.

John loved the work he did. Birches really are a family and we all miss him so much already.

Love to Jane, Lauren and all the team 💕💒

Ay up Duck (and mouse!)

If you have been to the chapel you will probably know we have a lot of mice hidden around.

Families keep bringing them and hiding them when they are here! I found one today but I think there are two more!! 😂

They have also hidden lots of mini ducks! 🦆

I love this, it is especially lovely for the children who attend services here

Thank you - you all know who you are!! 😂😂

Debbie’s service was amazing but super hard, having met her and planned it together. I was so proud to be part of her day.

If I ever mention I’m in here at night people always say…. Isn’t is creepy? Are you scared?

Never. It feels exactly the same as it does in the daytime to me. Peaceful and warm.

After a busy day I came in to clear up tonight and bring my new office drawer unit that the wonderful Oscar built for me today (without asking!) You might have seen him during services here. Good looking, polite, takes after his mum 😂😝😉

Thank you to all the families who have chosen our space to say goodbye in May. This month, we have had dogs in attendance, brandy toasts, sing alongs, cakes, brews tears, laughter and lots of hugs!
