Today two of our nurses delivered 2 puberty sessions, one for boys and one for girls.

We previously reached out to parents and carers to understand the topics that you value the most. We created our sessions from the information our parents and carers gave us.

We absolutely enjoyed delivering these sessions today and supporting parents and carers

This is some of our feedback from parents and carers:

What will you take away most from the session:
💫 understanding the importance of using the correct terminolgy
💫 the resources available
💫 to be better prepared for when periods start
💫 understanding theres more to puberty than just periods
💫 tips on cleanliness and personal hygiene
💫 understanding of hormone changes

Any other comments/feedback
💫 it would be useful to have other parent/carers feedback on strategies they have tried/worked for their SEN children
💫 offering sessions to younger children to prepare earlier
💫 great session and very knowledgable
💫 bespoke sessions

Thank you to the parents/carers who came along and helping us shape our sessions to support future delivery.

Did you know you can nominate individual staff and the team for our trust reach awards!

Have your say, if you feel we have gone above and beyond! We would love to hear your thoughts and see your votes.

Thank you to those who have already voted for us!

The annual REACH Awards is Combined Healthcare’s staff awards ceremony.

We are excited to bring you FOUR amazing Summer SEN SESSIONS here at Castaway🌈

The first is the 26th of July and we have a 'Meet and Greet' with Baby Shark 💛

The Session runs from 9 am until 11.30 am but you are more than welcome to stay on after should your child be having too much fun to leave 🤩

Here's what to expect:

Music turned off/ no tannoy 🙉
Limited capacity 🤩
Includes use of space sensory room 🚀
Ideal sessions for children who become overwhelmed 🫶
Siblings welcome ☑️
A team of dedicated staff ❤️

These sessions are designed for children (and adults!) that may not be able to cope on a regular session. Here at Castaway we are dedicated and PROUD to be inclusive.

Please come and give us a try! We know this is a big step and it can be daunting trying somewhere new for our SEN visitors but we promise you wont look back.

For any questions or if we can make any further accommodations to assist with your visit please get in touch 😃 We are happy to put your mind at rest.
