Our final trio of walks in partnership with Canal & River Trust the Wellbeing Walk in Hem Heath Woods.

Just wanted to give Jaimie and Andy, a big shout out. They were both heroes on the walk yesterday, when someone became ill they sorted it between them and Andy rushed back to get his car so he could pick them up. That's what you call having a real Godsend on standby or in times of real need I think! πŸ₯°

Truly amazing. In a moment of panic, people react in lots of different ways. These two showed fighting characters and real determination and core strength to get through it. So really well done to the both of you πŸ₯°

We were lucky enough to be invited to the Regent College Celebration Day, celebrating all the incredible milestones and wow moments the learners have shown over the past year, some leaving and some midway through their journey. It was a really touching event and we are so thankful to be able to offer volunteering opportunities to such wonderful individuals, to raise awareness and give opportunities to meet new people.

Throughout the year Regent had chosen to fundraise for us, and presented us with this today at Port Vale FC we, at Walk Talk Action are truly grateful for all the hard work and efforts that has gone into this and for everyone involved we are wholeheartedly grateful πŸ₯² thank you so very much.

We got to see some familiar faces and met some new ones too, one being Newcastle Town Football Club and the Chair and Deputy of Floral Hall Tunstall Park which was exciting we just didn't get enough time! 🧑

Thank you again to everyone and well done to all the incredible awards that were presented this afternoon and to the incredible staff. Teamwork and community partnerships when you find a group that just fits, is a real blessing and a real honour.

Thank you 🧑

Even with the rain they still ventured outside in the great outdoors, getting a bit'ta fresh air t'there lungs!! (That's my Yorkshire in me!) Haha massive respect for getting out for a walk, blowing away the cobwebs....looks like Simon was doing abit of singing in the rain 🌧️ bless him! Well done everyone massive effort!

It's the easy option to say no and stay where you are, it takes something more to get up and just go πŸ₯°

Great walk, Walk Leader Steve and Jaimie πŸ‘ŒπŸ»β˜• then enjoying a nice cuppa at Forrester Brothers community room 🧑

What a wonderful end to Tea & Toast!

We said farewell to our superstar volunteer Jasmine Willott who is sadly leaving us as a volunteer this year! We have been so lucky to have her with us every week without fail. Always so polite, kind and helpful. A big thank you from us all at Walk Talk Action 🧑

We enjoyed a very insightful talk by Aaron & Jaiden from Keele University Physiotherapy Clinic lead by Katie, on their Ageing Well project. We have had the privilege of having the students on placement with us this term and it's been great, with all four of them having brought a little something to the world of Walk Talk Action and it's community. Another big thank you and shout out to them all we wish them all the very best on the rest of their student journeys (enjoy it!) 🧑

What a fantastic Nature Workshop this morning with Mandi from Chase Nature Connection 🌿

We went foraging for natural materials and enjoyed the tranquility of being immersed into the Great British weather (aka the Rain!) haha it was very refreshing and yet very revitalising. From mindfulness to grounding exercises we enjoyed a wonderful session and created some fantastic pieces of art!

One being....

"Bashing petals on a cloth to transfer their color and shape which is called Hapa Zome or Tataki-Zome. Both terms refer to the traditional Japanese technique of using a hammer or mallet to pound flowers and leaves onto fabric, creating a natural dye print. It's also sometimes referred to as "flower pounding" or "leaf bashing"

It was very satisfying and soothing for the soul.

We also made some lavender πŸͺ» bags to put underneath our pillow at night to help aid a good night's sleep.

The natural world we live in is ever so fascinating and full of remedies and knowledge to be learnt.

We had the delight of seeing a Kelly kettle in action too! Enjoyed a hot drink (chamomile tea, coffee, tea) it was lovely to have the cabin on days like today as you really do appreciate shelter so much more in the rainy weather.

Our next Nature Workshop will be September/October time don't forget to book your place. If you have any requests for crafts to do please let us know in the comments below or via email teri@walktalkaction.co.uk

We would love to see you there!
