Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes diarrhoea and vomiting.
The average number of patients in hospital with norovirus each day last week rose to over 1,000 for the first time this winter.

It can spread very easily, but washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.

If you catch it, stay at home until two days after the symptoms stop. Don’t visit hospitals or care homes during this time.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the everyday moments of care that make a real difference. 💜
This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” reminds us how powerful small acts of support can be — a listening ear, a reassuring conversation, or the right guidance at the right time.
At our practice, we see these moments every day:
✨ Women supporting their families and communities
✨ Our team giving time, compassion, and expertise
✨ Patients and staff working together toward better health
When we give care, understanding, and encouragement, we all gain stronger, healthier communities.
Today, we celebrate the incredible women who make these moments possible — as patients, carers, colleagues, and friends. 🌸

Mini eggs of all colours and brands are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

That’s why they carry a safety warning that they aren’t recommended for children under 4.

So, when you’re stocking up for the Easter Bunny please stay safe and choose another treat for your little one.

March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

It’s important to know the signs and symptoms – especially as risk increases with age. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in Black men.
Prostate cancer often develops slowly, so there may be no symptoms for many years.

Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives. Contact your GP if you notice any changes in your body or something doesn’t feel right.

💊 Did you know your local pharmacist can help?
You don’t always need to contact the surgery or wait for a GP appointment 🙌
A pharmacist can provide treatment — and even prescription medicine if needed — for 7 common conditions, without you needing to see a GP.
🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ No appointment is usually needed — just walk in and ask to speak to the pharmacist.
Pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals and can give excellent advice and treatment for many minor ailments.
Using your local pharmacy helps free up our GPs and nurses to support patients with more complex or urgent needs ❤️

Thank you for helping us keep appointments available for those who need them most.
