💗 Be Breast Aware – It Could Save Your Life
Checking your breasts or chest once a month can help spot changes early.

Here’s what to look out for:
👀 Lumps or swelling in the breast, chest, or underarm
👀 Changes in size, shape, or skin (dimpling, redness)
👀 Ni**le changes (inversion, rash, discharge)

Most changes are not cancer—but it’s always best to get checked by your GP.
Know what’s normal for you, and if something feels different—don’t delay, get checked.

➡️ Women aged 50–70, you’ll be invited for breast screening every 3 years, and your GP strongly encourages you to attend.
-Already received your invitation or need to rebook?

📅October is ADHD Awareness Month, a vital time to recognise ADHD not just in children, but in adults too. In the UK, around 3–4 % of adults are thought to have ADHD and many remain undiagnosed.

💚ADHD is more than inattentiveness or hyperactivity, it’s a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, impulse control, time management, and organisation. It frequently overlaps with anxiety (common) and depression (experienced by many), meaning effective diagnosis and tailored support can greatly improve daily life

💚If you or a loved one are experiencing challenges that could be related to ADHD, we can discuss assessment options, refer to specialist services, or provide strategies for managing symptoms.

💚Let’s use this October to reduce the stigma, raise understanding, and support mental health and wellbeing, starting here, in our community. You’re not alone.

🧠💬 “I want to go home.”🧠💬
If you’ve ever supported someone with dementia, you may have heard this phrase.
It’s often caused by confusion or time shifting, and while it can be upsetting to hear, there are gentle ways to respond that can help ease their distress.

💚 Here are 5 things to remember when someone with dementia in care is asking to go home:
1️⃣ Don’t argue.
They may not mean a physical place, but the feeling of home — somewhere safe and familiar.
2️⃣ Reassure them.
Let them know they’re safe and cared for where they are.
3️⃣ Check how they’re feeling.
They might be lonely, anxious or unsure — gently asking about their mood can help you understand more.
4️⃣ Use gentle distraction.
A photo, a favourite song, or a calming activity can help shift their focus and soothe anxiety.
5️⃣ Keep a log.

Notice patterns — is it happening at certain times of day or when the environment changes? This might help manage triggers like sundowning or overstimulation.

💡 Supporting someone with dementia isn’t easy, but understanding their needs and emotions can make a big difference — for them and for you.

03/10/2025

From July 2025, the new update came in for women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 49 who test negative for HPV will now be invited for screening every 5 years instead of every 3.

🧬 Why the change?
This update is based on strong clinical evidence showing that if HPV isn’t found, the risk of developing cervical cancer is very low for at least 10 years.
That means it's safe to extend the time between screenings — while still protecting your health.

✅ Regular screening remains vital.
It’s one of the best ways to prevent cervical cancer or catch it early.

📅 Missed your appointment or need to book one? Contact us now, we can offer evening & weekend appointments to suit everyone's schedule!

Let’s keep making cervical cancer even rarer.
