Our Story
Dougie Mac is the only adult hospice delivering excellent care for people approaching the end of their lives in North Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding villages.
The hospice was established in 1973 and has grown over the years not only in size but also in the range and amount of care services available for local people.
Our consultant led multi-disciplinary clinical team provide specialist palliative/end of life care for people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses; as well as offering help and support for their families and carers.
We do not charge for the care and help we provide, we rely on 75% of our income coming from voluntary donations each year with the rest provided by some statutory funding.
We have no association with any other organisation, even those national charities who share a similar name. Our ability to meet the needs of the community we serve is very dependent on the support of local people, groups, businesses and organisations.
Our team of nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, volunteers, chaplains, social workers, therapists, and support staff care for all the needs of our patients facing a terminal illness: physical, emotional, social and spiritual. Together we aim to help patients both at home and in the hospice to achieve the very best quality of life, whatever their life expectancy, days, weeks or months.
