IT'S TIME TO CHANGE
615 million people suffer with anxiety or depression!
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives!
The number of people self harming or having suicidal thoughts are increasing!
Men are more likely to take their own lives!
Drugs are still the most common form of treatment and they have nearly doubled in the last 10 years even though 2012 Avivia's Health of the Nation report surveyed 202 GPs and found that 75% had prescribed medication even though they believed that talking therapies would have been more effective.
I believe that medication can help to alleviate the physical symptoms of anxiety and depression, as sometimes the physical symptoms can be so severe that it can interfere when trying to access deeper emotions and feelings.
However airing your concerns, anxieties and feelings can help you to make sense of them, this will then help you to focus your mind on an suitable and individual way to manage your mental health, rather than masking the cause.
Let's talk about mental health, let's openly acknowledge that life can be hard, because it is!
We are all stronger than we think we are!
Recognising the scale of mental health might just be the solution!
