Today is World Mental Health Day and this year it focus is on Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.

World Mental Health Day serves as a powerful reminder that there is no health without mental health. This year’s campaign focuses on the urgent need to support the mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by humanitarian emergencies.

Crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies cause emotional distress, with one in five individuals experiencing a mental health condition. Supporting the mental well-being of individuals during such crises is not just important – it saves lives, gives people the strength to cope, the space to heal and to recover and rebuild not only as individuals but as communities. That’s why it is essential for everyone, including government officials, health and social care providers, school staff and community groups to come together. By working hand in hand, we can ensure the most vulnerable have access to the support they need while protecting the well-being of everyone.

By investing in evidence and community-based interventions, we can address immediate mental health needs, foster long-term recovery, and empower people and communities to rebuild their lives and thrive.

On this World Mental Health Day, let us intensify our efforts to create a world where mental health is valued, protected, and accessible for all, especially in the face of adversity.

Here at The Lotus Service North Staffs we provide support for women who have had their babies prematurely and spent time in Neonatal settings. We treat trauma experienced during birth, afterwards, if baby is poorly & baby loss.

🌍 Today is World Mental Health Day 🌍

The official theme set this year by the World Federation for Mental Health is:

“It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace“.

As we observe World Mental Health Day, it’s crucial to shine a light on one of the most pressing issues affecting modern workplaces: burnout. In our fast-paced world, more employees are experiencing chronic stress that leads to burnout.

Burnout doesn’t happen overnight. It’s gradual and can take hold before you’re truly aware of it. It doesn’t just affect individual wellbeing; it has far-reaching consequences for organisations too.

We’re calling for everyone to take shared responsibility for workplace mental health. From employers to employees, executives to managers, we must unite in educating ourselves and one another to recognise the signs of poor mental health and provide mutual support so that we can create healthier, more resilient workplaces where mental wellbeing is a priority for all.

By addressing workplace burnout on this World Mental Health Day, we can create a more productive, engaged, and fulfilled workforce. A mentally healthy workplace is a thriving workplace. Let’s work together to combat poor mental health and burnout and foster environments where everyone can flourish.
