May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💙

At Positive Steps Physiotherapy, we’re using this month as a chance to focus on the small things that make a big difference to our wellbeing.

As a team, we’ve each set simple, achievable daily goals to support our mental health – from getting outside for fresh air, to moving more, switching off, and taking time to recharge.

We’ll be keeping each other accountable and encouraging one another throughout the month, because looking after your mental health should never be an afterthought.

Is there a small change you could make this month to support your wellbeing? 🌿

Yesterday we said goodbye to the beautiful Kayla 💔 A truly one-of-a-kind, sassy spirit who brought so much love and light into all our lives. She will always be remembered and deeply missed.

Lorna spoke yesterday on BBC Radio Stoke about Kayla and the money we have been raising in her memory; you can listen from 1:09 here: https://share.google/2Y4u3D5iGrEZlyPMD

In Kayla’s memory, we’ve been raising money for Dougie Mac and Kemball Special School, two places that meant so much to Claire and to Kayla. Our GoFundMe closes this Sunday, so we’re asking for one final push! Whether that’s donating or simply sharing, to help us raise as much as we can and show just how loved Kayla is.
Every contribution, big or small, means the world 🤍

You can find the GoFundMe link in our Bio.

Thank you for your continued love and support. For Kayla, always ✨

🌀 V is for Vestibular
Your vestibular system helps control your balance, coordination, and how you understand movement in the world around you 🌍

When it’s not working properly, it can lead to symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, balance issues, and nausea — sometimes feeling like you or the room is spinning.

The good news? Physiotherapy can help 💙 By working on balance, movement, and symptom management, we can support you in feeling steadier and more confident again.

🎓 U is for University
We love welcoming physiotherapy students from a range of universities into our clinic 💙

We’re passionate about supporting the next generation — giving them hands-on experience in neurology and paediatrics, while helping them understand the unique journeys of our clients.

Many of you really enjoy working with students too — they bring fresh energy, new ideas, and a different perspective ✨

We’re proud to play a part in shaping future physiotherapists and hope to continue doing so for many years to come!

👶 T is for Tummy Time
Tummy time is when a baby or young child spends time lying on their tummy — helping them explore movement and build strength 💙

It’s so important for development, helping to:
✨ Build muscles for sitting & crawling
✨ Improve head control
✨ Strengthen neck, back & shoulders
✨ Support motor milestones
✨ Enhance vision & hand-eye coordination

If your little one is finding movement or milestones tricky, tummy time is often a key part of physiotherapy to help them grow stronger and progress 🌟
