A elderly veteran selling poppies stopped a lady who was coming towards him on the street and asked if he could re-position her poppy. While doing so he told the lady that as long as she wore the poppy “with pride” it doesn’t matter which side it is worn (statement from the Royal British Legion).
He went on to explain that the red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much.
The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended. He was worried that younger generations wouldn't understand this and his generation wouldn't be around for much longer to teach them.

Kindly copy and paste to share (just like I did) We MUST remember all of our veterans who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

I’m currently on a project in London developing and extending an older property, converting it into retail units and flats

We have added another service available to customers
Artificial Grass installation - a full service, ground preparation through to final fitting.
We will also be able to offer repairs and maintenance.

This was an MDF staircase that I repaired treads and risers on before cladding with oak and finishing with oil rather than varnish.

Small job completed locally in Burslem. Damp problems resulting from a previously badly capped chimney leaking. On inspection the chimney was in a very poor state, so removed 6 courses of brick to get to something solid, then capped properly and air bricks installed.
There were also problems with yard run-off water flowing into the house through an air brick. This water had saturated the wooden floor and was being trapped by old vinyl flooring which had been left under the carpet.
The customer chose to have the wooden floor removed and replaced with a screeded floor.
The old fireplace was simply boarded over with a sheet of 9.5mm plasterboard held in place with some laths. The fireplace was bricked up and an air vent incorporated to promote airflow. Then a damproofing render system was used to reinstate the wall affected by damp. A plaster skim finished it off.
We had to build a new gas meter cupboard also.
New skirting boards were fitted and left primed ready for glossing.
The new plaster was “sized” with 50:50 emulsion mix and is to be painted by the client.
Last but not least, a full clean up and laying of the new carpet was done.

A small bathroom project, customer insisted on a shower curtain rather than a screen, and they want to decorate themselves. So I’m done ✅
