This week, we’re raising awareness about Legionnaires’ disease, caused by Legionella bacteria, which can grow in water systems that aren’t properly maintained. This awareness week runs alongside scheduled water testing being conducted at our premises 🔧 💧

While it’s uncommon, it can lead to illness when bacteria are inhaled through tiny droplets from things like showers, taps, or air conditioning units 🦠
The good news is that it’s easy to prevent! We will be sharing simple tips throughout the week to help you keep your home safe, spot early symptoms and protect your health.

In the meantime, here are a few quick prevention tips:
✔️ Flush out taps and showers, especially if you’ve been away
✔️ Clean showerheads and taps to prevent limescale build-up
✔️ Maintain your water systems regularly

✨ Brighter Buffets for events & meetings
✨ Brighter Boxes which are affordable, ready-to-go food packages (available for collection from 23 Hillcrest St 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday)
✨ Brighter Bites which include pop up cafés and tuck shops at our sites.

Have you ever wondered what happens at Brighter Futures while the world sleeps? 🌃 😴

Desmond has shared his Night in the Life of a Duty Team Member🌟

From wellbeing checks and chats with customers, to creating a safe space where customers can access a calm environment when needed. His role goes beyond routine tasks, it’s about building trust, offering empathy, and providing a sense of stability for customers.

We’re thrilled to have been a part of Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Guinness World Record for the biggest Cream Tea Party for the city’s centenary celebrations🎉

Brighter Futures’ customers were among the 15,000 Stokies who took part in the event 🌟 🤗

All of our sites joined in the celebrations enjoying freshly baked scones (made from scratch by our Hospitality Manager Rachel!) alongside plenty of cups of tea ☕️

Orchid Women’s Services went the extra mile by filling the boxes with extra treats, ensuring our ladies enjoyed a hearty lunch!

Customers also got involved in a game of bingo with sweet treats and Love2Shop vouchers up for grabs, and even got to work on our paint-by-numbers mural to celebrate our 50th anniversary🎨🙌

Stay tuned as the mural makes its way to all of our sites to give all of our customers the chance to get involved!

With the soaring temperatures, we're offering free bottled water for rough sleepers and anyone facing homelessness.

Water can be picked up from:

We're also accepting bottled water donations from the public at these locations (must be pre-sealed and not reused)

That’s a wrap on !

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved. Over the past week, we teamed up with customers for community litter picks at 90 Hope Street and Hillcrest Street...and enjoyed a well-deserved ice lolly at the end! 🍦

🌟 We also introduced Jess and Tori, our Access, Sustainment and Enforcement Team🌟

They’re here to support customers and communities by listening to concerns around ASB, find fair solutions for everyone and provide intense support to ensure customers can restabilise lives and prevent loss of accommodation.

And we will continue to work with partners and provide essential training to our internal teams so we can continue to build better neighbourhoods together 🏘️

Duty Team Members, Penny and Sean recently hosted a get-together for customers at Hillcrest. The afternoon was a chance to socialise and welcome new residents over some party food and feel-good music! 🎶

So, how are we doing on ASB? 👀

Earlier this year, our Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) case satisfaction scores were below where we wanted them…

But since launching our Access, Sustainment & Enforcement Team in October 2024, we’ve seen a big improvement📈
👉 Satisfaction with case handling has gone from 74.36% to 89.58%
👉Satisfaction with case outcome has gone from 73.72% to 93.75%

We’re really proud of the progress our team has made, and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going 💪
