When it’s time to dispose of your old batteries, don’t throw them in your household bin. Instead, take them to a dedicated collection point. ♻️ 🔋

Most major UK supermarkets have in-store recycling bins for batteries; it’s an easy way to reduce fire risk in your home and do your bit for the planet! 🌍

If you’re unsure or if you have any questions about recycling your old batteries speak to your Housing Sustainment Worker!

This week is Fire Prevention Week! 🔥 🧯

Customers’ safety is our top priority.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing practical tips to help you stay safe and ensure the right prevention measures are in place.

Making safe choices when buying, charging, and recycling electrical items is essential. In fact, last year alone there were 1,140 accidental electrical fires in England involving everyday household items such as washing machines.

It’s also vital to make sure your smoke alarm is working and is being tested regularly.

We’re proud to share that Brighter Kitchens has started offering three affordable “Essential Packages” as part of our commitment to make sure our customers are looked after in all aspects of every-day independent living 💪 🏠

We’ve done the hard work to keep costs down, each package has been price checked against supermarket alternatives to ensure great value🤩

👉 The Thrive Package - a selection of basic food essentials.
👉 The Sweet Package - affordable sweet treats.
👉 The Cleaning Package - everything you need to stay on top of cleaning and personal hygiene.

These packages are available for collection from 23 Hillcrest Street, Hanley from 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.

It’s been a busy and creative time over at Orchid House lately 🏠 🌷

The ladies took part in various activities and carried on their work in the garden, turning it into a beautiful, shared space. Their hard work has paid off not just outdoors, but in the kitchen too, where they’ve been baking sweet treats and cooking delicious dishes! 🍲

A massive thank you to everyone who braved the cold and joined us for The Big Brighter Sleep Out…we are blown away with the amount of support from every single one of you! 🌟

We came together as a community and united our efforts to make a difference this winter and make those cold nights a little more bearable for rough sleepers ❄️

Thank you so much to the Smithfield Works Stoke for their amazing support, providing extra security, opening up the venue, and even donating breakfast baps to warm us up in the morning.

To partners, colleagues, friends and dedicated members of the public who supported, donated, and braved the night with us, we can't thank you enough! And we've got to give a special shout out to the CDAS and Equans team who won the quiz🏆

Finally, thank you to volunteer, Dave, who came along and kept the energy high with live music on his electric guitar! 🎸 🎶

So without further ado…we’re thrilled to announce that together, we raised an incredible £3,138!

This will go directly towards providing Winter Packs to help rough sleepers in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme get through the colder months.

Keeping our customers safe in their homes is our top priority💙

As a registered provider of supported accommodation and social housing, we take gas safety very seriously. That’s why Natalie, our Health and Safety Co-ordinator, recently hosted drop-in sessions to raise awareness about Gas Safety ⚠️

She spoke with customers about the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, what to do in an emergency, and demonstrated what a carbon monoxide alarm looks and sounds like.

At Brighter Futures helping people to lead fulfilled lives is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that with tailored support our customers can be empowered to recognise and develop their strengths, confidence and self-esteem, manage their lives positively and build aspirations.

Life circumstances such as abuse, bereavement and mental illness can affect us all. A roof over your head is where we start. We don’t stop there, each year our team of over 200 staff and volunteers support people with complex needs through personalised accommodation, employment, training and mental health support. Our one stop shop operates 365 days a year.
