Understanding when to use ice or heat can help support recovery and manage pain more effectively.

Ice is usually recommended for recent injuries or when there is swelling or inflammation.

Common examples:
Sprains, strains, acute injuries, or swelling after activity.

Heat is generally used for muscle stiffness or chronic tension where swelling is not present.
