Wycombe Radio Car Club

Wycombe Radio Car Club We race electric radio-controlled cars, all year round, on our indoor carpet track. Anyone thinking of taking up the hobby can visit for free.

Originally based in High Wycombe but now in Stokenchurch, we are a not-for-profit organisation that is run by volunteers. Our once permanent venue in High Wycombe has now been redeveloped and the club ceased operations for several years. However, a group of former members and committee members have worked to revive the club and begin a new chapter for this once thriving club. We race various classes of radio-controlled car indoors on a specialist needle carpet surface - check out the ‘Classes’ section of our website for more info. WRCC is a member’s club, but anyone can visit, spectate, or take part as a non-member. RC model motorsport caters for people from all backgrounds, and we do not discriminate on age, sex or disability. We are a BRCA (British Radio Car Association) affiliated club, and we request that anyone who races with us is a BRCA member as well (adult membership costs £25/year). Visit the BRCA Website for further information. The club boasts a variety of skill levels from beginner to advanced so everyone is welcome and there is always plenty of help on offer from our regulars. We recommend paying us a visit and talking to us before jumping in and investing in any equipment so we can help make sure you get suitable gear for your money. Events are run throughout the year by the club on weekday evenings and occasional weekends and we have several National Championship winning drivers to our credit. Most of our action is fed through Facebook – please visit and ‘Like’ our page to be kept updates about news and events! Check out www.wycomberacing.co.uk for more information. Reminder for tonight:

Doors open at 6:30. If you arrive earlier your assistance appreciated to move pipes from the container to the sports hall.

It is now needed to bring a fold up table and chair for pitting. We cannot get access to the rooms we used previously as they have people using them.

We are working on a way to transport the pipes but we have not achieved this yet! Work in progress.... :-)

Reminder! Get booked in asap for Thursday 30th October’s club meeting. Minis, LMP and LM-GT3. We are expecting a pick up in attendance with mini racers this week. Hopefully GT3 can have their own heat too….

Intent is a more fast flowing track this week. 😊

We do need drivers to book in a bit earlier please. In recent weeks everyone leaves it to the last minute and this is not helpful for race control and setup…

Another day another post!

We are aware there are now quite a few LM-GT3 cars running at the club. These really are a great cost effective and fast club class.

So, if we can get 3 or 4 LM-GT3 at the next club meeting we will offer their own heat. This should make the drivers already having fun, have even more. So get booked in!

More great news.

Our very own chairman Mark Stiles totally dominated rounds 1 and 2 of the BRCA LMP National taking TQ and the wins in the 13.5 stock category.

This is a great start to the year against some very tough competition.

So if you race LMP and want to compare to the very best? Get booked in and come on down to Wycombe on our Thursday club nights!

Been a while but this was definitely worth a post. Our first Thursday club meeting was held on the 16th October in the new sports hall area. This enabled us to run our full size track that some have experienced on our popular test and tune weekend events.

No streamed video this meeting. We need to sort out the Internet in the new hall.

The entry was good but does need to improve moving forwards. Come on Mini racers we need you! BattCave Mini Support Group!
Fair enough it was Mini Masters the previous weekend.

So 3 heats with 5 brushless Minis and a healthy 12 LMP.

In qualifying the Minis were dominated by Andy Warner with his rapid Kamtec car. Nick Holloway took a fine 2nd and showed some very fast lap pace. Neil Guojah placed 3rd.

In LMP a few visitors were practising for the weekend opening LMP National. This did not stop Mark Stiles dominating with his Awesomatix A12X followed by the Schumacher cars of Matthieu Dambrine and Michael Lee.

Onto the finals, and first the Minis; Andy Warner took a comfortable win from Nick Holloway in the A final. 3rd was taken by Neil Guojah. Seb Holloway with a fine 4th followed by David Walker.

The B Final LMP was next up with Ian Masters taking the win from lights to flag. Mark Passingham finishing a close 2nd. 3rd not too far behind was Steve Tunaley.

The A final LMP was again won comfortably by Mark Stiles. Matthieu Dambrine finished 2nd and Michael Lee 3rd. Rich White a very good 4th with David Gale, Andy Murray and Mark Goodchild filling out the remaining positions.

Reminder! No racing tonight! But also reminder, get booked in for Thursday the 16th. It really is going to be a good one in the Sports Hall location. Book in here:

To compete at our race events, we ask that you register and pay for your entry in advance. This enables us to organise the race schedule prior to the event and minimise the time we spend registering drivers and taking payment of race fees on the day.

Same club, different day!

There have been some developments recently that mean we will need to make a change to when and where we run our race meetings. Read on to find out more.

Why?
We currently get charged for use of the track hall and the separate room we use for pitting. This amounts to over £45/hr meaning that with current attendances we usually run at a small loss. In addition to this we have been informed that from January the pitting room will no longer be available as the nursery operating in the next room is expanding.

Where?
From the moment we started running WRCC over 18 months ago we have asked for a slot in the sports hall (other end of the community centre), but sadly it has been unavailable due to long standing sports club bookings. A slot has now become available though and we have been given first refusal. Using the sports hall would allow us a bigger track area (20m x 12m instead of 19m x 10m) and we’d be able to pit in the same hall that we race. It’s cheaper too at £35hr.

When?
The sports hall slot that has opened up is on Thursdays, so we will need to change the day on which we run our club meetings. The start time will be a bit later too as there’s a cricket club that uses the hall until 6:30 during the winter. Whenever the cricket club isn’t using the hall we can start a bit earlier at 6pm; we’ll communicate this if it becomes a thing. We have contacted our regular racers by email to ask whether this change of day would be a problem and out of more than 25 correspondences we only received a couple of negative responses. This is unfortunate but we were never likely to be able to please everyone.

Summary
- Starting at our next meeting on 16th October the club will run on fortnightly Thursdays.
- Set Up will be from 6:30pm sharp so please arrive on or before this time to help out.
- Bring a table and chair as none are available in the sports hall.
- We will use our 6th roll of carpet for a larger track area and protect the floor with our blue tarpaulins.
- We may look in to moving the storage container so that it’s closer to the sports hall.

So there are positives and drawbacks to this, but it is something we need to do in the circumstances and we think that on balance it’s a positive development for the club. We hope that you can continue to support us and attend club meetings whenever you can and we apologise to those who will no longer be able to make it.
