You may have seen or heard on the news today about the weight loss injection being available via GPs. Before you contact the surgery in this respect please ensure you have read who is eligible and ensure that you meet the criteria as, currently, it is only available for some patients.

Who is eligible for Mounjaro from GPs right now?

NHS England has specified the first group of patients who will be able to get the jab from their GP or a community clinic, will be those most in need.

This is people with:

a BMI of 40 or over (or 37.5 if from a minority ethnic background)

and four out of five of the following conditions: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart and vascular disease, high cholesterol and obstructive sleep apnoea

People will also get "wrap-around" care - including regular check-ups, support with exercising and advice on eating healthily, for example.

But prescriptions for the drug will not necessarily be available from all local GPs. In some cases, they will come from other primary care services.

NHS England says people should check their integrated care board (BOBICB) website for more information. (That's the organisation that is responsible for planning the health services for our local population).

Our staff are currently working hard to clear up after the flood but please DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY this morning unless you already have a pre-booked appointment. IF YOU HAVE A PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENT: Please arrive for your appointment and call us on 01494 256073 to let us know you have arrived as a member of staff may need to meet you in the car park and es**rt you into the building.

We will provide a further update as soon as possible.

New Year – New GP!

We are very pleased to welcome Dr Karanvir Singh to Stokenchurch Medical Centre. Dr Singh joins us from Berkshire and replaces Dr Ben Chisholme who has left us for pastures anew and we wish him all the very best for the future. There is no need for you to do anything or contact the surgery as all Dr Chisholme’s patients will be transferred to Dr Singh’s list with immediate effect.

Due to the heavy snow this morning please do not come to the surgery unless absolutely necessary and if you do venture here please take extra care as the car park and footpath may be slippery.

Regretfully we have had to take the extremely difficult decision to close our Dispensary. A huge amount of consideration has gone into this, but in view of the current NHS constraints on GP surgeries, together with ever increasing operational costs (Governments increase of National Insurance, living wage, utility costs) it’s clear that the Dispensary is unsustainable.

The Dispensary will close as of 31st December 2024.

We would like to thank our Dispensary patients for their continued support as valued patients and customers of our Dispensary and we are all very disappointed that we have had to make this decision.

Please take extra care when coming to the surgery due to unexpected adverse weather. If you have mobility issues we recommend you stay at home.

It has been brought to our attention that there is currently someone calling people purporting to be from a healthcare provider asking for their personal details and bank details. Please be aware that Stokenchurch Medical Centre staff NEVER ask patients for their bank details. If you receive such a call please report it to the police rather than us. We would recommend that you block the number from calling again.
