YAS CFR, Stokesley & Hutton Rudby Community First Responders We are volunteers trained by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to respond to 999 calls in Stokesley and the surrounding area alongside the ambulance service

We are a team volunteers trained by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to respond to urgent 999 calls in Stokesley and the surrounding area. As authorised volunteers for the ambulance service, we work as part of a dedicated team whose aim is to reduce the number of Pre-Hospital deaths in Yorkshire. We are trained by YAS in basic life support skills, CPR and the use of Automated External Defibrillator

s, and Oxygen Therapy. We work alongside the YAS crew and are not a replacement for the 999 service. We are always backed up by a YAS clinician. Our role is that of a first responder.

June was good to us with our second largest recruitment in North Yorkshire and The Yorkshire Dales Area, in the past 3 years.

Due to summer holidays I have opened a quick link, its only opened until 17th July, to allow time for shortlisting and Inductions before people start to disappear for the holidays.

After that you will have to wait until Sept.

So you have a realistic understanding how our volunteer recruitment works in the North.

TRAC link opens (generally North Yorks, it is the 1st working day of the month until the last, each month).

If you apply on the 1st, you will not hear anything until after TRAC closes.

Once TRAC closes, myself and Neil have 5 days to complete shortlisting.

If successful, you are invited to an induction / interview evening. (generally, in the North This is a Wed Evening 1800-2000, 10 days after shortlisting)
If you Can Not make the induction evening, please donโ€™t withdraw, please email recruitment and request another date.

If successful on Induction / Interview evening, you enter the world of DBS and NHS checks. (this takes as long as it takes).

Once your DBS is back, you are offered a course date, which is 4 days over 3 weekends.

On completion of this course and some E Learning modules you meet your team and start saving lives within your community.
We request that you give a min of 20 hours a month and 1 scheme meeting bimonthly.

Sound good??

I am very honored to work with some amazing volunteers within North, North Yorkshire and The Yorkshire Dales, supporting Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust Volunteer Community First Responder Scheme.

My area covers Leeming, out to northallerton, over to Great Ayton, over to Langthwaite, Gunnerside, across to Hawes and back to Leeming and everything in between, approximately 520 square miles.

These volunteers offer 20 hours a month, so as an area with present volunteer numbers we should give YAS 1040 volunteer hours a month. As you can see (pic attached) these hero's gave YAS 2,387 volunteer hours last month and a massive 15,261 hours this year so fare.

Could you spare 20 hours a month?

Would you like to be trained as a volunteer responder for YAS?

Take a look at our website or follow the QR code to register your interest.

This is especially true for heart attacks and medical conditions which have caused someone to lose consciousness.
When a 999 call is received in our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), an ambulance response is dispatched. At the same time, a CFR on-call in the area can be alerted and asked to attend the incident to ensure that help reaches the patient as quickly as possible.
