A few new pieces have arrived in the studio, with more still to come.
I thought I would start by introducing our new Wunda Chair.
It is a beautiful piece of equipment, and quite different to work on compared to the Reformer, Mat and Cadillac. It asks for a different kind of control, and tends to challenge the body in more focused and sometimes unexpected ways.
It works alongside your Reformer and Mat work, adding another layer and often bringing a new level of awareness to what you already do.
And beyond all of that, it is simply lovely to use. Beautifully made, thoughtfully designed, and a genuinely luxurious piece to move on.

As with other pieces in the studio, this one is from Pilates Scandinavia. Crafted in the traditional way for classical Pilates, with a finish that feels solid, yet refined and beautifully considered.

Isnโ€™t it lovely being able to step out for a walk after dinner in the evening at the moment.
Weโ€™ve been trying to make a bit of a habit of itโ€”nothing long or structured, just a walk down the lanes for some fresh air before the day ends.
Itโ€™s often the simplest things that make the biggest difference.

PS: Apparently this is now trending on TikTok as a โ€œfart walkโ€โ€ฆ which is why โ€œAre you coming for a fart walk?โ€ is now a completely normal sentence in our house ๐Ÿ™ƒ

This is what made me fall in love with Pilates in the first place.

Feeling taller, a lighter, lifted, and more fluid in my movement.
That sense of ease stayed with me long after each session had finished.

But the real magic is that it is not just a feeling.

With consistency, Pilates in the studio builds real strength. You start to notice changes in your bodyโ€”how you move, how you feel, how your muscles support you day to day.

Itโ€™s that combination that makes it so powerful.

Doodles deserves his own little space here.

A couple of weeks ago we had to say goodbye to him. I was not ready to talk about it, so when some of you kindly asked how he was, I said he was okay. I hope you understand.

Sixteen years of love and cuddles does not feel like enough. We miss everything about him.
๐ŸพWaking up to his snoring and snuffle noises in the morning.
๐ŸพThe way he would bring a toy to everyone who came to the door.
๐ŸพThe way he always found his place squished between us on the sofa.
๐ŸพHis little happy skip when out walking on a sunny day.
๐ŸพHow he would join in whenever I got on the mat to do Pilates at home.
๐ŸพHow he always knew when any of us were feeling sad or sick, and give extra cuddles.
All the little everyday things.

He was the sweetest little brother to Naya and Tor, and such a huge part of our lives. We are so grateful for every moment with him.

So many of you will know how this feels. The grief is real, and it runs deep, because the love is so big.

We miss you so much Doodles. We will love you forever. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

If you would like to practise some of the exercises I recommend to you for home practice, donโ€™t worry about doing them perfectly from the get-go. The home exercises I give you are safe for you to do even if they are not done flawlessly, and they will only get better with practice.
(And if practicing exercises at home is not for you, that is absolutely fine too.)

You might be wondering:
โ€œWill they be effective if I am not doing them perfectly?โ€
โ€œWhy does it feel differently to when I did it in the studio?โ€
โ€œI canโ€™t remember what comes after the starting positionโ€

In the studio I can guide you and make small adjustments, so it is completely understandable that it feels different when you are on your own.

But it is important to remember that before we can do something properly, we first have to practise simply doing it.

If you start practising them, you will begin to notice the parts you feel a little unsure about. You can always bring those questions to your next studio session and we can go over them together.

That is how you slowly start to feel more confident in the exercises and begin to make them your own, building a mat practice at home that feels familiar and achievable.

It is not about getting it perfect, it is about getting started.๐Ÿ’œ

We often pay a lot of attention to the neck and the lower back, but what about your mid-and upper back?

In Pilates, we start to bring awareness to this part of the spine: the space across your ribcage, the control of your shoulder blades, the strength and mobility in your upper back. And when you begin to feel it working, really working, everything changes.

Your neck feels freer. Your shoulders soften. Your lower back feels more supported. And movement justโ€ฆ feels better.

Once you connect to the whole length of your back, you start to feel a new layer of yourself โ€” stronger, more open, more aware. You find yourself standing taller, more upright, with less tension around your neck and shoulders, and a sense of ease that stays with you long after you leave the studio. ๐Ÿ’œ

We come back to the same exercises again and again in Pilates.

Not because we run out of ideas, but because there is always more to find in each exercise.
Layer by layer, things start to shift.

The exercise may not change. But your body does.

You notice muscle tone where there was none before. You feel an โ€˜arm exerciseโ€™ working your stomach muscles too.
You feel the Footwork working your butt. You find yourself moving with more ease in day to day life. You find yourself managing aches and pains better.

That is why we repeat.
Not to stay the same, but to keep changing. ๐Ÿ’œ

Two reformers, slightly different approaches.

Alongside the classical equipment, I also use a contemporary Reformer in the studio.

For me, it has never been about one being better than the otherโ€”itโ€™s about understanding how to use the equipment well.

The classical work gives you a very clear foundation and direction. The spring settings, the structure, the precisionโ€”itโ€™s all there for a reason.

The contemporary reformer gives us more options. Small adjustments that allow the work to be tailored more closely to the individual in front of me.

Some clients prefer one, some the other.

What matters most is knowing how to use both with intentionโ€”so we can find the right starting point for your body and build from there. ๐Ÿ’œ
