Yesterday was the big day!
Sian finally BRAVED THE SHAVE!

Sian, our counter assistant, braved the shave on 19.09.2019 to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support! Alongside Sian's shave yesterday we also had a small bake sale with homemade cakes and a raffle.

Here's a few photographs of Sian before, during and after the shave! We're all loving the purple look at work.

Two years ago, Sian lost her husband, Dave to esophageal cancer and she wanted to do something for Macmillan, to thank them for all the support and help they gave her family. She decided to brave the shave and for the past 6 weeks we've been fundraising in the pharmacy whilst counting down to the big day.

Sian, and ourselves, would like to thank all of our lovely customers, staff and the general public that donated to her amazing cause! She has by far exceeded her initial target of just £300 and whilst we don't know the exact total just yet (we're still collecting donations up) Sian thinks its around £2,500!

There is still time to donate, you can bring a donation into us at Birchill & Watson Pharmacy or you can donate online using Sian's personal link;

All of us and Sian would also like to say a huge thanks to Plants the Jewellers, Walton Pharmacy, St Michaels C of E First School & Cumberland House Surgery Gpf Limited for helping Sian raise money.

Not to mention Rachel from 3B Barbers (Tel: 07792 857 911) who kindly gave up her time and shaved Sian's head for her. It meant a lot to Sian that Rachel was the one to do her shave for her, because Dave used to have his hair cut by her.

And finally thank-you to Ten Green Bottles Co Stone for giving Sian some 'dutch courage' with a parma violet gin!

Drinking enough fluid each day is vital. Signs of being dehydrated include:
💧tiredness
💧headaches
💧feeling confused as well as having a dry, sticky mouth.

Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day and you may need more if you’re exercising or the weather is especially hot!

Don’t rush to flush. Blood in your p*e, even just once, could be a sign of cancer. It’s probably nothing serious, but finding cancer early makes it more treatable.
