What happens if you stop having your anti-wrinkle treatment?

You might be wondering… “If I take a break, will my wrinkles come back?” The answer is yes—but don’t worry, nothing permanent happens!

Anti-wrinkle treatments work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause lines. Over 3–6 months, your muscles gradually wake up again and your wrinkles slowly return to how they were before treatment.

The good news? Years of treatment can sometimes soften lines long-term, so even if you pause, your face might look smoother than before you started.

Bottom line: Stopping doesn’t make wrinkles worse—it just lets your natural expressions shine again.

I am an Aesthetics Doctor and I am going back to my hospital position as a Consultant Paediatrician alongside my business, and these are the treatments I recommend for a postpartum glow up.

Postpartum changes don’t stop once maternity leave ends. Hormonal shifts, skin laxity, fatigue and loss of radiance are common — and valid!

I have focused on regenerative treatments which stimulate the body’s natural repair and renewal:

Improves skin quality
Boosts collagen & elastin
Enhances long-term results
Minimal downtime

Perfect for us busy mums returning to work!

We deserve evidence-based treatments that support recovery and confidence. To discuss your glow up, why not book a no pressure consultation with me?

AHA vs BHA — what’s the difference?

Not all acids are created equal.

AHAs work on the skin’s surface to improve texture, tone, and radiance — making them ideal for dull, dry, or sun-damaged skin.

BHAs are oil-soluble, allowing them to travel deeper into the pores. They’re particularly effective for congestion, blackheads, and acne-prone skin.

Choosing the right acid (or combination) is key to achieving results without irritation. Skin type, concerns, and strength all matter.

If you’re unsure what your skin actually needs, you can book a consultation with me by clicking the link in my bio.

What to expect during your Polynucleotide appointment?

Consultation first
Your appointment will begin with a full medical consultation and skin assessment to ensure polynucleotides are the right treatment for you and your skin goals.

The treatment
I will carefully inject Polynucleotides into targeted areas to stimulate skin repair, improve quality, and support natural collagen production. The treatment is quick, precise, and minimally uncomfortable as I use numbing cream.

Results develop gradually as your skin regenerates, with best outcomes seen after a course of treatments.

Many of my patients see an improvement in skin texture and hydration, increased elasticity and firmness and healthier, more resilient skin over time.

Things I’d like to see the back of in 2026 — as an aesthetics doctor...

As aesthetic medicine evolves, our responsibility to prioritise patient safety, evidence and long-term skin health must evolve with it.

Thread lifts
High risk, inconsistent outcomes and limited longevity. In many cases, the risk–benefit ratio simply isn’t justified.

Overfilled faces
Excessive filler compromises facial anatomy, movement and skin quality. More product does not equate to better results.

At-home microneedling
Uncontrolled depth, poor sterility and inappropriate use significantly increase the risk of infection, scarring and pigmentary change.

Damaged skin barriers
Layering harsh actives without clinical guidance leads to inflammation, sensitivity and long-term skin dysfunction — not improvement.

In 2026, aesthetic medicine should be:
• conservative
• evidence-led
• biologically respectful
• focused on skin health over trends

I look forward to welcoming you in clinic in 2026, Dr Samantha Brown

How can we treat the under-eye area? Did you know that the under-eye area has the thinnest skin on the body?

This makes it particularly prone to:
• fine lines
• crepiness
• dehydration
• visible fatigue

Polynucleotides work by supporting tissue repair and cellular regeneration, improving skin quality from within rather than adding volume.

I will always offer a considered, biological approach which essential in this delicate area.

If this is an area of concern for you, we can discuss all your treatment options at a no pressure consultation.

Did you know that your aftercare can directly influence the efficacy of your treatment?

Correct post-procedure behaviour helps to:
Ensure the product remains within the intended muscle groups
Optimise longevity of results
Minimise complication risk

Here I am talking anti-wrinkle aftercare with my patient.:
Avoid touching the injection points
Avoid strenuous exercise & heat
Stay upright
Be patient — results take time

The better you care for your skin afterwards, the more natural, longer-lasting your results will be. Small steps, big difference.

Are you unsure where to start your aesthetics journey, you can book a consultation via the link in my bio.

Aesthetic medicine is still medicine.

In Scotland, practitioners are expected to work within clear professional frameworks — prioritising patient safety, informed consent, ethical decision-making and evidence-based care.

When treatments are elective, the responsibility on the clinician is even greater.

A consultation should never feel like a sales pitch.
It should feel calm, measured and clinically justified.

Medical-led aesthetics isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing what is appropriate — and nothing more.

Rest assured when you book a consultation or treatment with me, you are in safe hands.

What is Sunekos?
Sunekos is an injectable treatment combining amino acids and hyaluronic acid to support dermal regeneration — stimulating collagen and elastin production rather than adding volume.

Results develop gradually and subtly, improving:
• skin quality
• elasticity
• fine lines
• hydration

This is not a “quick fix”, but a biological process that works with the skin over time. A skin regeneration treatment.

What are my favourite winter glow treatments as an Aberdeenshire-based aesthetics doctor?

Sunekos® — supports collagen and elastin production, improving skin quality, hydration and elasticity from within. It will deliver an instant glow.

ZO® Stimulator Peel — a gentle yet effective chemical peel designed to brighten, refine texture and restore luminosity.

These two treatments work in harmony together, to deliver the ultimate winter glow.

Winter is the ideal time for regenerative and resurfacing treatments, allowing the skin to heal and remodel with minimal environmental stress.

My ethos is always subtle, progressive results — led by scientific evidence, not trends.
