Today's papers are full of the news that the Duchess of Cambridge used hypnobirthing to help bring her three children into the world. Talking on Giovana Fletcher's podcast Kate explained how her experience with severe morning sickness led her to hypnobirthing, as she came to realise the importance of "mind over the body" after trying everything to overcome the illness.
"I saw the power of it really, the meditation and the deep breathing and things like that, that they teach you in hypnobirthing, and actually I realised that this was something I could take control of, I suppose, during labour. It was hugely powerful."
Although I never formerly trained in hypnobirthing (an area I am happy to leave to me female colleagues) I have used hyposis to help clients to relax during their pregnancy and to look forward to the process of giving birth with some very positive results.
However, the work that I do enjoy in this field is in helping to boost fertility Several years ago I took specialist training in this area with Sjanie Hugo, the UK’s leading practitioner in the treatment of fertility issues through hypnotherapy..
The Fertile Body Method combines hypnosis and other mind-body approaches to help identify and address the mental, emotional and physical factors which may be affecting your fertility. The therapy will also help you to decrease stress and reduce the other negative effects that infertility is having on your life.
It works well along side IVF and other assisted fertility treatments. In fact, a recent study in Israel found that couples using hypnotherapy boosted their chances of conception by fifty per cent.
