�A meal left untouched. Movements that seem a bit slower. A home that’s not as tidy as it used to be. On their own, these things might not seem like much. But together, they can be quiet signs that someone you care about may need a little more help.

Don’t overlook them.
�Checking in gently and kindly can make a world of difference 🫶🏻 Let’s notice the signs early and make sure our loved ones have the support they need to stay safe, healthy, and independent.

Introducing Leah this Monday! Leah has been part of the Home Instead team for 9 months now. What she loves most about working for Home Instead is the opportunity to truly make a difference in people’s lives, brightening their days one visit at a time 💜

Leah has been involved in the care sector since she was 18. While she’s always had an interest in care, her passion deepened when she provided palliative care for her great uncle during his final days. That experience showed her just how meaningful a carer’s role can be in supporting and enriching the lives of those they care for. For Leah, caring for others is not just a job it’s a true privilege 🫶🏻

When she’s not working, Leah enjoys spending quality time with her family. She’s also an avid theatre-goer, and if she’s not at home, you’ll likely find her at the Bristol Hippodrome catching a show! 🎭

One thing Leah wishes more people understood about caregiving is that it’s not always go go go. It’s about spending meaningful time with people, encouraging their independence, and supporting their hobbies. Being disabled and living with multiple chronic illnesses herself, Leah truly understands the importance of being there for clients. Often, carers may be the only person a client sees all day, so making every moment count is essential.

Leah doesn’t have advice, but she shared a memorable comment from a client recently, “You’re young and have so much life to live if you love something, do it, and if you don’t, don’t.”

For this week’s meet the team Monday, we’d like to introduce Beth! Beth joined Home Instead in February 2024 and has quickly become a valued member of our care team 💚

Beth was inspired to pursue caregiving after seeing the support other carers provided to family members. She recognized the positive impact it had on her loved ones and wanted to be able to offer that same support to others.

Outside of work, Beth stays close to her caring roots by looking after her Nan. When she has time for herself, she enjoys spending it with her friend’s and family, whether it’s bowling, mini-golf, or going to the arcade.

One thing Beth wishes more people understood about caregiving is that while it’s a challenging job, it’s also deeply rewarding 🫶🏻

A piece of advice that’s stuck with her is to add Worcester sauce to baked beans—it gives them a great zing!

So proud to see home care take centre stage! 🎭 Congrats to Olive and the team for bringing real voices from the sector to life and maybe even the West End! 💚👏

🎭 A play about home care could be reaching the West End and beyond!

We're excited to back this new theatre project which could see home care take centre stage.

Our very own Care Professional, Olive, has written the play to tell the story of home care from the voices of those working in the sector.

Led by producer and director, Emily Lloyd, and supported by Arts Council England, the play is to be pitched to theatres across the UK next year.

For this evening’s meet the team Monday segment, we’re excited to introduce our amazing Care Pro, Kim! 💜

Kim has been with Home Instead for a year tomorrow! What she loves most about her role is connecting with clients, offering them support, and hearing their incredible stories.

Her journey into caregiving was inspired by a couple of friends who worked in domiciliary care. She was drawn to the idea of a role where she could make a meaningful impact, no matter how small.

Outside of work, Kim is a busy mum to three young children and two dogs! She enjoys outdoor activities like walks, trips to the park, soft play, and fun family outings 🐶

One thing Kim wishes more people understood about caregiving is that it’s not just about being “a carer.” It’s about offering much more,providing compassion, support, and genuine care to those who need it most 🫶🏻

The best advice Kim has received from a client? “Never go to bed angry. Always work things out and make sure everything is okay before you fall asleep.”

When a grandparent is living with Dementia, it can be a confusing and an emotional experience for children. But with gentle guidance and support, children can still share meaningful moments with the people they love 💚

Here are a few simple ways to help them stay connected:�
* Enjoy shared activities like looking through photos or reading together 📚

* Speak honestly using age appropriate language

* Remind them it’s the condition that’s changing things, not the love or the person behind it 💛

* Treasure the little moments – a smile, a song, a hug

Talking openly not only helps children understand, but also nurtures empathy that lasts a lifetime.

This week for our meet the team Monday segment, is our lovely Care Pro Georgia 💚

Georgia has been working for Home Instead for 3 years, the thing she loves about her job the most is making a difference to all her clients lives. Not only supporting them but spending time with them 🫶🏻

The thing that inspired Georgia to become a carer was that from a young age she enjoyed helping people, making them smile and caring gives her these opportunities everyday.

In her free time Georgia enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, going to the gym and cooking 🥘

One thing Georgia wishes people understood better about the caregiving profession in this industry is, as a care professional you can sometimes feel a large amount of pressure. We may be the only person our clients see on a day to day basis so we have to make sure we go above and beyond. Not only supporting with things like personal care but also listening to them and showing interest in the things they like to do.

The best piece of advice a client has given Georgia is about marriage. His words were “always work at it, yesterday’s disagreements shouldn’t be brought into today,” Georgia had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife and they had a happy marriage which lasted 60+ years 🥹

Barbara joined us just a few months ago, and in her daughter’s words, she already 'has a better social life than she does!'

Barbara has been out and about in her new wheelchair, visiting Highfields Garden Centre and Sainsbury’s, enjoying lunch at Tesco in Quedgeley, and catching up with her daughter at Leaf & Ground 💚
