The Lightworks Clinic & Laser Training Centre offers a unique blend of Low Level Laser Therapy with Traditional Acupuncture, treating both human and animal clients Alongside all the benefits of Laser Acupuncture, our specialty is in helping to resolve Sports and Tissue Injuries using the properties of Low Level Laser to deliver non-invasive, drug-free treatment for all types of injury - whether open wound, soft tissue, muscular, tendon, ligament or fracture, spinal injuries and paralysis. Low Level Laser Therapy is a first line treatment modality - it is recommended, gentle and safe to be given immediately after injury in order to help resolve inflammation and start the healing process - unlike some other modes of treatment that suggest waiting until the inflammatory phase has passed. Laser Acupuncture is based on the same Principles and Laws as Traditional Acupuncture, but using Laser's aseptic, non-invasive, painless properties instead of needles. Literally ... 'All the Wisdom of Traditional Acupuncture, without the Needles'

Used in conjunction, these two modes of Laser Therapy have proved to be highly effective in resolving injuries and speeding the whole healing process, at the same time as strengthening the tissue involved - in The Lightworks Clinic this is backed by 25 years of experience in the field.

Great initiative... πŸ˜‰πŸ‘Œ

Some of our equine vets, nurses, yard managers and safety experts recently met with representatives from the University of Liverpool and helmet manufacturer Uvex to discuss one vital topic: The use of protective headwear to make equine veterinary work safer.

The meeting followed recently published CVS-funded research by Dr John Tulloch of the University of Liverpool which highlights the high risk of injury faced by equine vets & nurses. In response, CVS has introduced a mandatory helmet policy for all staff handling or treating horses.

Colleagues have a choice of designs - from riding helmets to specialist protective headwear worn by the emergency rescue services - but currently none are designed specifically for use by equine vets.

So the group explored possible helmet design, shared first-hand experiences and talked about the cultural change needed across the industry to make helmet wearing the β€˜norm’. They also learned from Uvex about safety standards and the rigorous testing behind protective helmets.

Change won’t happen overnight, but the message was clear: if helmet-wearing saves just one life or prevents a life-changing injury, it’s worth it.

The Clinic has moved to Frocester Cricket Club !!!

After 11 glorious years at premises in Westend, The Lightworks Clinic has moved
to…

Frocester Cricket Club
Pounds Close
Frocester Hill
GL10 3TW

Set in the tranquil countryside village of Frocester, the new premises overlook an immaculately kept cricket ground – which allows you to relax whilst listening to the bleat of lambs in neighbouring fields, or the evocative sound of leather on willow !!

The Clubhouse itself offers a warm welcome, excellent facilities, plenty of parking, a lift for those less mobile and, if desired, the opportunity to partake in refreshments from the Club Bar !!

However, rest assured, the move does not change the dedication and support given to each of our Clients – we will continue delivering a fusion of East and West therapeutic modalities, combining Traditional Chinese Medicine with the gentle, but effective, tissue healing properties of Low Level Laser Therapy

Ticks....urrgghhhh....
Tick season is well under way, and all dog and cat owners should be aware that these creatures (related to spiders, scorpians and mites) can carry diseases such as Lyme disease.
These clever critters climb up the stalks of long grasses and plants, and wait for their new host....they 'quest', by holding up their front legs, waving them around to detect body heat, carbon dioxide from their hosts breath, warmth, mositure and vibrations. They cannot jump or fly, and so will scramble very quickly onto their new host. They need to feed on blood at every one of their life stages...6 legged larvae, 8 legged nyph and then adult.
They can be hard to spot at various stages as they are so small...they can be poppy seed sized...
However - prevention is the best cure! We have many treatments that will kill the tick before it has a chance to infect your dog or cat (IF it is carrying a disease) - or you can remove any tick you see with one of our very simple to use tick removers. As long as you remove a tick within the first 24 hours, the risk of disease is greatly reduced.
Phone us or pop in for any more information!
