The three stages of frozen shoulder:
1️⃣ Freezing Phase: Pain increases gradually, especially with movement, and shoulder motion becomes increasingly limited. 2️⃣ Frozen Phase: Pain may lessen, but stiffness remains, severely limiting shoulder movement. 3️⃣ Thawing Phase: Range of motion starts to return as the scar tissue gradually breaks down and softens.
Signs & Symptoms:
Gradual onset of pain that starts around the shoulder and can spread down the arm.
Painful, restricted movement, especially reaching overhead, across your body, or behind your back.
Stiffness that makes daily activities like dressing, driving, or even sleeping challenging.
Recommended Treatments:
🏃🏼♀️Rehab: Key to restoring mobility and strength gradually through bespoke exercises.
🙌🏼 Manual Therapy & Massage: Can help relieve stiffness and pain, aiding circulation and promoting tissue healing.
🙆♀️ Stretching & Mobility Exercises: Essential to breaking up scar tissue over time, done safely to avoid further irritation.
⚡️Shockwave Therapy: Can stimulate blood flow, reduce inflammation, and help break up adhesions in the capsule.
💊 Pain Management: Sometimes short-term anti-inflammatory meds or steroid injections are used to reduce acute pain and swelling.
We understand frozen shoulder can be frustratingly slow to heal, but regular care and a comprehensive reatment plan can make a world of difference in both pain relief and shoulder function.
