We are being brave, we are being bold, and today, we are telling you how it is.

Our community means everything to us and right now, we need your support.

We are incredibly grateful to have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for this academic year. However, running a Community Interest Company in today’s climate is tough. We want to stay sustainable so we can continue delivering our award-winning My Feelings and Me programme to as many children as possible.

Here’s how you can help us:
🐝Sign up to Easyfundraising. it’s free for you and supports us with every purchase.
🐝Connect us with a business that may sponsor a programme
🐝Share any ideas you think could help. We are always open to hearing from you.

Together, we can keep this vital work going. Thank you for standing with us.

After sharing the importance of mental health education last week and Bee Well’s role in it, we’re opening the doors to the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything running.

As much as we both love running our group sessions there’s a lot that goes on to keep Bee Well operational. This includes a lot of learning on the job, as neither of us studied business at any point in our careers.

Some of our unseen tasks include:
🐝Admin set ups that are always on brand to enable us to apply for funding/grants.
🐝Writing detailed school reports demonstrating the impact of My Feelings and Me.
🐝Updating our website to ensure accurate, up-to-date information.
🐝Attending training/networking events/meetings we attend, to get our voices out there and hopefully heard.

Sharing a little round up about the history of Bee Well Together:

1) Our first photo with our matching bee headbands. This was the start of the bee paraphernalia obsession 😁

2) We started this page during the pandemic whilst still working in our NHS camhs roles, to offer advice to support parents during this difficult time.

3) What we discovered quickly was that mental health support needed to be stripped right back as mental health education wasn’t available.

4) My Feelings and Me grew from this. Helen’s daughter even designed the programmes logo.

5) We had a limited company Bee Well Groups
alongside our community interest company
Bee Well Schools that were amalgamated to who we are now, Bee Well Together.

6) We have big plans for our future and one day hope to see that all children will have access to our mental health education programme, My Feelings and Me.

Have you ever questioned why we have physical health education lessons in schools but no dedicated lessons on mental health education?

Educating children about their feelings will enable them to identify and understand what causes them.

In the same way physical health education is taught to keep us physically well, mental health education is needed to provide us with strategies to support us to keep us mentally well. After all, health is health.

If you’ve followed us for a while you will know we come with a wealth of knowledge and experience in mental health.

Currently being in schools we are seeing the crisis that surrounds young people's mental health. The only way this is going to change is if we prioritise educating children about this. This should be for ALL children.

Our My Feelings and Me programme offers this education in a way that is accessible to all. We are able to make adjustments to the sessions to ensure all children can engage in its content.

Reasonable adjustments should be an option for all those that need it. A diagnosis should not be required for these adjustments to be made.

We hope that one day this mental health education programme will be available to all children across the country.

In light of the recent news stories around education please see our stories for some other view points.

This year’s anti bullying week theme is, Power for Good.

It’s allowed us to reflect on our My Feelings and Me programme. We have a whole session dedicated to celebrating our individual uniqueness.

The more children are educated about their uniqueness, there is more understanding and acceptance of others. Thus less space for seeing difference as a weakness.

We know that it can be a worrying time when you suspect that your child is experiencing bullying. Below are some simple tips of how to support them:

• Stay curious. Actively listen to your child without judgement or trying to fix it.
• Validate their feelings.
• If the incidents occurred during school time if appropriate speak to a member of school staff to gather facts and to share information.
• If your child asks you not to intervene. Evaluate the situation and it’s your responsibility to safeguard your child.

Please be aware that if you are triggered by any information your child shares, it is important to try and remain calm. Your experience may be different to theirs.
