We are back running My Feelings and Me this week in some new schools. The programmes continued success and growth is a testament to how much mental health education is needed in schools.

We continue to work towards our big dream of one day getting My Feelings and Me onto the national curriculum. Mental health education for all children, how incredible would that be.

You may have noticed a change in your child behaviour this week. This may be due to upcoming school return.

Schools will be preparing for the transition of your child to their new school/class/year. We wanted to share some tips on how you can also support this process for your child.

*Listen to what your child is saying.
*Try to avoid dismissing their feelings by saying, for example, "you will be fine" or "it will be fine."
*Validate how they are feeling, e.g., "I can hear that you are worried" or "I can understand why you would be nervous."
*If your child enjoys being creative, they could make a story board for their classroom or their new school. This could include a picture/drawing of their new teacher/classroom or school uniform.

Transitions can be hard, but they are part of life. It is, therefore, really important to prepare our children appropriately.

As we head into the final days of the summer holidays in the UK, we wanted to offer support and tips for the transition back to school for you and your children.

A good place to start today would be to begin to think about the routines that were in place for school days: What time does your child need to go to sleep, what time do they need to wake up? Is uniform ready the night before? Do they have a certain breakfast? When do teeth get brushed? Does your child get their uniform on before breakfast? What happens after school?

You family's routine is unique to you. Start to introduce parts of this routine throughout the next couple of days to slowly prepare for school starting on Monday.

Have you started return to school shopping yet? If not here is a little reminder about how you can support our My Feelings and Me programme by signing up to Easyfundraising.

Easyfundraising does not cost you a penny. A number of well known retailers are part of Easyfundraising and they offer a small donation everytime you shop with them.

If you are shopping online, we would be incredibly grateful if you could help us on our mission to reach more children with our My Feelings and Me programme.

Children may be disappointed who their new teacher is, where their classroom is, or who their classmates are. We thought it might be useful to share some tips on how to support this.

• Firstly, acknowledge that it is ok to feel disappointed.
• Give your child time to discuss why they are upset and listen to what your child is actually saying without judgement.
• Validate how they are feeling.
• Ask your child what they need, for example, time alone, a hug or a distraction activity, etc.
• It might be useful to share with your child a time when you felt disappointed and how you manage this.

Just a polite reminder to you as parents, you do not need to fix everything. It is absolutely ok to feel disappointed.
