There was a lovely buzz in the salon recently as residents enjoyed having their nails done with Sukie.

Polishes were carefully chosen, hands were gently prepped, and there was plenty of friendly chat as everyone settled in and enjoyed a little pampering.

Moments like these are an important part of daily life at The Gables, supporting wellbeing while offering some well-deserved relaxation. 🧡

Earlier today, we had the pleasure of visiting Hagley Hub and spending some time with Pauline and the team at Hagley C of E St Saviour’s Church Hall.

Running every Tuesday from 10.00am to 12.00pm, Hagley Hub is a fantastic community space open to people of all ages. Led by a dedicated team of volunteers, it offers a welcoming and relaxed environment where people can come together, enjoy a chat, and feel part of something local and supportive.

One of the great features of the Hub is its dedicated area for toddlers and pre schoolers, creating a space where generations can spend time alongside one another. It is a great example of how community connections can be strengthened by simply bringing people together.

If you are local and looking for a friendly place to pop in for a chat, it is well worth a visit.

There is nothing quite like enjoying a breath of fresh air and a little sunshine, and our beautiful grounds here at The Gables provide the perfect setting for a relaxing walk.

With safe and well maintained outdoor spaces right on our doorstep, residents can easily step outside to enjoy the gardens whenever the weather allows. Having access to these lovely surroundings means residents can take in the fresh air, enjoy gentle exercise, and spend time chatting with friends while surrounded by nature.

Time outdoors can do wonders for wellbeing, encourage movement, and provide peaceful moments to appreciate the beauty of the day. ☀️🌿

What a fantastic day we had at our Spring Fair this weekend! ☀️

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to support such an important cause, with vital funds raised for KEMP Hospice. Events like this are a great reminder of just how strong and supportive our local community is, and how much can be achieved when people come together.

A big thank you to all of our stall holders for being part of the day, we are so grateful for your support and for helping to create such a lovely atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Ukes On The Edge, for an afternoon of fun, dancing and brilliant entertainment.

It was lovely to welcome PC Seb Britton from the Hagley and Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team to The Gables today for a coffee and a catch up about what is happening within our local community.

Visits like these are a great way for us to stay connected with the people and organisations who help support our local area. Having the opportunity to speak directly with our local neighbourhood policing team means we can stay informed about what is happening locally and continue to build positive relationships within the community.

Maintaining these connections is so important, not only for sharing information, but also for ensuring that residents, families and our team feel part of the wider community around us.

A big thank you to Seb for taking the time to visit us today. We look forward to welcoming him and the wider team back to The Gables for future visits and events. ☕👮‍♂️

Spring Fair at The Gables - This Saturday! 🌸

Join us for our Spring Fair in support of KEMP Hospice. It promises to be a fun, family friendly day filled with plenty of springtime spirit.

Enjoy live music from Ukes On The Edge, whilst browsing a fantastic selection of artisan stalls and unique memorabilia, all locally crafted by independent businesses and charities from across the community.

A free event and a lovely opportunity to support local makers while enjoying a relaxed afternoon.

Every bit of support will help KEMP Hospice continue providing compassionate care to patients and families when they need it most.

It was a very special day here at The Gables as we celebrated Bill’s 90th birthday!

Bill marked his milestone with a lovely outing alongside his family, before returning to The Gables to enjoy a slice of his ‘Clarke Transport’ themed birthday cake, a company he proudly took on from his father and has since passed down to his own sons.

Moments like these are so important, celebrating life’s special occasions surrounded by the people who matter most.

There is no better way to start the week than with a little pampering in our very own hair salon here at The Gables.

Our fantastic hairdresser, Sharon, visits us weekly, offering residents the opportunity to enjoy professional hairdressing services within the comfort of the home. Having an on site salon means residents can enjoy a relaxing, familiar environment while being looked after by someone they know and trust.

A big thank you to Sharon for her wonderful care and attention, it is always lovely to see residents enjoying some well deserved pamper time to start the week. 💙

We are delighted to be supporting Crafting For Communities, an inspiring local charity turning creativity into thousands of handmade items that make a real difference across our community. 🧶💙

From hospitals and care homes to local primary schools, their volunteers create thousands of knitted and crocheted items every month, including sensory items for care homes, fidget toys for children, and cosy hats, scarves and blankets for those who need them most.

Crafting For Communities is more than just a charity, it is a thriving, supportive community of makers who come together through creativity, friendship and a shared purpose. Every item made helps to spread comfort, joy and connection.

We are very excited to soon be hosting a donation station here at The Gables, where local knitters and crocheters can collect materials and patterns to make items for Crafting For Communities to distribute across the community.

If you enjoy knitting or crocheting and would like to be part of something truly meaningful, Crafting For Communities are always looking for volunteers and makers to get involved.

We had the pleasure of celebrating Barbara’s 93rd birthday here at The Gables recently!

Barbara spent her special day surrounded by her family, fellow residents, and our team, enjoying a lovely celebration filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of warm wishes.

It was a truly special occasion, and wonderful to see everyone come together to help her mark this incredible milestone. 💐

Sometimes a few simple words can open the door to wonderful memories and conversation.

At Poetry Club, residents come together to read aloud, share their thoughts, and enjoy the beauty of poetry. Led by residents themselves, the group offers a lovely opportunity for everyone to take part, whether by reading a favourite poem, listening, or discussing what the words mean to them.

Residents are also encouraged to bring along poems that hold special meaning, often sparking moments of reminiscence and personal stories. Sharing these pieces helps build confidence, self-esteem, and a real sense of connection with others in the group.

It’s a wonderful reminder that poetry has the power to bring people together, inspire conversation, and celebrate memories and experiences. 📔🧡
