Sun, Soil, and Smiles in the Garden

With the weather finally starting to brighten, Residents headed outside today to make the most of the fresh air and gentle warmth.

Assisted by our wonderful volunteer, Isla, the group spent a lovely afternoon planting a variety of flowers, including sunflowers, poppies, and forget-me-nots, which we can’t wait to see in full bloom.

Beyond the beautiful flowerbeds, these moments in the garden are so important. Spending time outdoors and engaging with nature helps to boost mood, spark sensory memories, and provides a gentle way to stay active, all while fostering the meaningful friendships that make our community so special.

We’re delighted to introduce Dan, our new Head Chef at Parkfield Grange.

Dan leads our talented catering team in creating fresh, nutritious and delicious meals every day. With a strong background in both restaurant and care home catering, he brings a real passion for quality food and a commitment to making every dining experience special for our residents.

Food is at the heart of life at Parkfield Grange, and Dan works closely with residents through regular food forums to ensure menus reflect their tastes, preferences, and ideas.

We’re excited to have him as part of the team and look forward to sharing some of his fantastic dishes soon.

Plans changed…but the creativity carried on.

With the rain keeping us indoors, our dahlia planting session was brought inside and with the help of our wonderful young volunteer Isla, it quickly turned into a lovely, shared activity 🌸

There was teamwork, laughter, and plenty of hands-on involvement as bulbs were planted and plans were made for the colourful blooms to come.

Moments like this bring generations together, encouraging connection, learning, and a shared sense of purpose - whatever the weather.

There’s a real sense of purpose in these moments, where residents can contribute, stay active, and feel part of the home in a meaningful way

A walk down familiar streets with stories along the way.

Mrs B enjoyed a stroll around the local area with our Wellbeing Lead Sam taking in the surroundings and noticing how much has changed over time.

There were reflections, observations, and meaningful conversation as familiar places sparked memories and curiosity about the past and present.

Moments like this support independence, connection, and confidence, showing how, with the right support, residents can continue to explore and enjoy the local community and the world around them.
